An anti-abortion group in Georgia has placed several billboards around the Atlanta area which feature the words “Black Children are an Endangered Species” next to the image of a Black child.

62 of the billboards above have been erected in 2 majority minority GA counties (Dekalb and Fulton) and the words and image has caused an outcry amongst Black women, who feel that they are being unfairly targeted.
To be fair, I must tell you that the organizers of the campaign are Black as well and have gathered facts that show that GA reports the most abortions of black mothers.? As I was watching ABC News late last night, they reported that out of a total of 35,008 abortions in Georgia in 2008, 20, 909 were Black woman, while only 9,900 were White.
They also reported that Black Woman are 1.5x more likely than White women to become pregnant but 3x more likely to have an abortion.
The stats are astounding but before you go into BLACK POWER mode, think about this for a second…
The website TOOManyAborted, makes the argument that the astonishing number of Black babies being aborted is akin to genocide. Especially when you compare the number of Blacks to say…. Hispanic women who rarely get abortions.
They reference “The Negro Project” that was started in 1939 by planned parenthood founder, Margaret Sanger. The site claims that The Negro Project was an organized effort to “eliminate the unfit” i.e. stop all the poor Blacks from having babies.
This has grown into what they feel is a form of organized genocide aimed at decreasing the population of the Black community.
When I first saw the billboard, I have to admit that I was a bit taken aback…but once I read the website there’s a lot to consider.
Consider the fact that the Black family structure has steadily declined over the past 20 years. Consider the fact that Black men are increasingly turning away from Black women. Consider that fact that marriage is almost unheard of these days.
And after all of that… Consider the fact that Atlanta was named the Gayest City in America.? When you considered all those factors, it’s apparent that there’s not a whole lotta Black babies being born.
Now… add all that up and think about where all the little Black kids will be in 10 years. Extinct? An Endangered Species?
Hmmm…Definitely something to think about.
