Quote of the Day: Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed *Video*

Atlanta’s 59th Mayor, Kasim Reed, has been officially inaugurated into office but he began his day early this morning at an Interfaith Inaugural Prayer Service at Ben Hill United Methodist Church.

Reed grew up in the church along with his mother and three brothers and his voice broke as he spoke about growing up in his southside church home. The first time he spoke in public, he said, was in Ben Hill United Methodist Church. Four minutes away from the home where he was raised.

In his speech, Reed spoke of his desire to create a better Atlanta and how community involvement is key:

?If our children cannot rise to the highest levels of this city, what have we become? We?ve got to look in the mirror Atlanta. I am going to work today and focus on making sure that mothers and fathers have a job to make sure they can look their children in the eyes.?
