David Scott was killed in the line of duty while pursuing a robbery suspect, leaving his wife and three daughters to live on without him. His wife, Trina, now helps other survivors but while devoting her time to others, Trina’s home has deteriorated due to a termite infestation to such a degree that the foundation was about to give way.
Trina Scott founded the C.O.P.S. organization (Concerns of Police Survivors, Inc.) to help other families devastated by the loss of their loved ones in law enforcement. She became its president in 2003, in addition to working a full-time job to support her daughters.
Usher and Selena Gomez joined the crew of the ABC show and rebuilt the Scott home while the family was sent on a much needed break to Disneyland.
Usher said, “There were tears, hugs, crying, and screaming in October when he taped the segment of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”

Usher gets his hands dirty…
“It was just an ultimate emotional moment. I won’t venture to say it was one of the greatest Extreme Makeovers, but it was definitely heart wrenching and a moment to remember. I can’t say I’m a crier every time I watch. But, this time, I cried. They got me on camera crying. I couldn’t help it”, says Usher.

After participating in the makeover, Usher went even further by donating $25,000 to C.O.P.S, to help further Scott?s work. He made the donation through his non-profit foundation, Usher?s New Look and the money will go to help Scott and C.O.P.S. award $500 grants to young people who are interested in serving their communities through various projects.
Usher?s New Look Foundation will also award additional grants to youth around the country who have service projects in mind through his Powered By Service initiative.
If you are 12 to 20 years of age and have a service project or organization for which you?d like financial help, you can apply for a $500 Powered By Service grant by logging onto www.poweredbyservice.org or www.ushersnewlook.org. Grants will be awarded to exceptional service ideas.
