When speaking about the dress last night on CNN, Khan told talk show host Larry King that he aspired to create something “Indian, chic, simple but very glamorous” for the First Lady, adding that the dress took 40 people and three weeks to create in India.

The one-of-a-kind silver-sequined gown, was adorned with beads that form an abstract floral pattern and was accessorized with oversized earrings, bangle bracelets and a cream-colored wrap.

So who is Naeem Khan? Well according to his website, Kahn was born in India into a family whose luxurious designs were worn by Indian royalty and celebrities alike. As a teenager, Kahn moved to the United States apprenticing at Halston and Riazee and in 2003 he started his own line. In just six short years, he has followed in his families footsteps, dressing celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce and royalty such as Queen Noor of Jordan.

In a recent interview, Khan expressed his excitement:

“I feel so happy to be a part of this historical event between the two countries where my heart lies. I am relieved to have a job well done and am so honored to have been chosen. This is a Thanksgiving in its truest form for me and one that I will never forget–an American dream coming true.”
