Jermaine Dupri & Da Brat Face Lawsuit Over Club Incident

Jermaine Dupri and Shawntae Harris aka Da Brat have been hit with a lawsuit over an assault that occurred in Studio 72 several years ago. Shayla Stevens, a former Atlanta Falcons and model, has filed a civil lawsuit in Fulton County Superior Court, claiming Da Brat struck her in the face with a bottle, causing serious injuries. The lawsuit claims Da Brat, born Shawntae Harris, has a criminal record and violent past record of assaulting other women.

Stevens was an employee at Dupri’s Studio 72 nightspot, located just outside of Atlanta. Her lawsuit also claims Dupri, a promoter named Joseph London and security personnel all failed to protect her from Da Brat during an altercation at a Halloween party October of 2007. Da Brat struck Stevens with a bottle of rum, causing permanent scars and nerve damage to Stevens’ face and in August of 2008, pleaded guilty to Felony Aggravated Assault and was subsequently sentenced to three years in prison. Upon her release, Da Brat must also serve seven years of probation and perform 200 hours worth of community service.

In 2000, Da Brat was charged with beating ANOTHER woman with a gun during a dispute in the V.I.P. section of a Buckhead, Georgia night club. In that assault, which required her victim to receive six stitches, Da Brat was sentenced to 80 hours of probation and fined $1,000.

Steven is suing for an undisclosed amount and is represented by Stephen Apolinski.? Who’s gonna pay what? Does Shawtae even have any more dough? JD might wanna play “hide the assets” for a few years. I’m just sayin…
