Frankie Speaks on Being A “Cougar” + Her Emotional Red Carpet Exit

I caught up with Keyshia Cole’s bio-mom Frankie Lons on the red carpet of the 2009 BET Hip Hop Awards this past weekend. She was sporting a new wig, a new front grill and a new attitude as she dished the dirt on her attraction to younger men. Anyone who follows Keyshia Cole or the “Frankie & Neffe Show” is quite aware of Frankie’s young boy magnetism. Shoot… she pulls em quicker than Kim Zolciak used to pull Big Poppa’s AmEx Black card. Anyway, Frankie was quite candid in her response to my question of “How do you always keep a young sexy man on your shoulder?” In fact, she was quite profound in her explanation:

“I’m not a ‘cougar’… I’m just a damsel in distress. Really, actually men my age I can’t deal with em, cause they make me feel old. And Ladies I need to give you some game. If you get a younger man, then he’ll make you feel young. You won’t be bent over and walking slow.”

Just moments after my brief interview with Frankie, she stormed off of the red carpet. If you follow me on TWITTER, you were the first to find out that a fellow blogger asked her a question that suddenly brought tears to her eyes:

Somebody *cough* (@Gyant) done made Frankie cry and she ran off. I dunno what’s goin on right now. 3:14pm Oct 10th

As Frankie was addressing a question about her journey from drug addiction to the red carpet of the BET Hip Hop awards, she got so emotional and distraught talking about it that she promptly left the area and never came back. Here’s a video of GyantUnplugged‘s interview that sent Frankie over the edge:

Shout out to Keyshia, she the one with all the money. Umma need her to give me a loan. She?s been taking care of me since I was knee-high to a gnats ass, don?t get it twisted! Matter of fact, she?s the reason why I got my esteem back and my hope. That lil bit of… When I got out of prison, if it wasn?t for her, I would not be walking the red carpet. Shout out to God. My baby gave me so much encouragement, no matter how I look. ‘Mama you are beautiful. Mama you are fine’.

Although her publicist assured us all that Frankie was OK and would return shortly, she was escorted off of the carpet and soon left the venue. My super snoops around town hit me up soon afterwards, with word that it was a Keyshia Cole family reunion of sorts as Frankie, Neffe, Soullow, Elite & Neffe’s Bio-Dad Vic were all spotted chillin at the Twelve drankin while the awards show was going on.

Frankie kept leaving the group to answer her cell phone which was blowing up and urking us since we were seated right next to them in the lounge. I don’t know if she and Vic are back together but he seemed to be concerned about her. Every time she left to take a call, he would get up and bring her back to to group and I could hear him telling her “don’t worry about that shit.” Frankie was visibly upset during each phone call but soon calmed down after a few drinks and continued to aggravate the crowd with her signature “Holllllaaaa!”

Feel better Frankie… don’t let a few bounced checks get you down.
