Former Soul for Real group member Brian Dalyrimple has been apprehended and appeared in court yesterday in Gwinnett County to face charges of identity theft and fraud. Since this is his first court appearance, it was the first time the evidence against him had been discussed. Dalyrimple was linked to an apartment that was filled with other people’s documents and Gwinnett officials stated that his bedroom was littered with the paperwork, credit cards and driver’s licenses of various identities.

The judge in the case issued two key rulings: 1) that Brian Dalyrimple would remain in jail without bond and 2) that the case had enough evidence to move forward.

Dalyrimple was arrested last week in North Carolina and was found hiding in a friend’s closet. He had fled Georgia weeks earlier with his 10 month old son and was arrested without incident. In court, Dalyrimple claimed that he is actually the victim of identity theft and said he never tried to flee from police. Brian also begged the judge to allow him out on bond stating “I’m a professional entertainer recognized internationally…” and said he needs his freedom in order to perform to make cash. The judge saw right through that and promptly refused his request.

The investigation against Dalyrimple is ongoing and there may be way more charges brought against him. Brian’s girlfriend/baby mama, Labora Crawford is also in custody and faces similar charges, while a grandmother is taking care of their 10 month old son. To make matters worse, Brian also has pending identity theft cases in Fulton and Clayton counties and two other members of the group, his brothers Jason and Andre Dalyrimple are also being sought to face further charges in the case.
