CTE/Def Jam recording artist Blood Raw held his listening party last night at Patchwerk Studios for his upcoming CD “MY LIFE: THE TRUE TESTIMONY.”?? First and foremost, I feel like I need to say that I am?NOT a music critic, I just write about what I like…and I’m almost ashamed to say it but I like Blood Raw…the person and the CD!?? You already know that I’m a Jeezy STAN…so Blood Raw’s association with Mr. Jenkins basically gave him a leg up in my book.? Also,?Blood Raw’s narration of each track?gave?all in attendance?an insight into his life and struggles and made him the (former) D-boy we all want as a friend.?
“…one thing about this industry….everybody in the world wants to be a rapper….and everybody out here wants that “D” boy swag.”?
Blood Raw?is quick to tell everyone that he’s not in that buisness (anymore) but he will never forget where he came from.? “Still a D Boy” is the song he says that?signifies that quote.? My?personal fav off the CD is “Almost There” which features Mannie Fresh.? Blood Raw described this track as what your thought process should be when you’re working towards ANYTHING.? “You have $5.00 but strive for a million…you’re ALMOST there!”? Ummm…OK. Nevermind…but the beat is still hot.? One single is already tearing?up the airwaves (Louie featuring Young Jeezy) and there are also guest appearances by Lyfe Jennings, Trina & fellow USDA member Slick Pulla.
The CD drops TODAY ~ June 17th and you can best believe that umma be bumpin this in my car all summer long.?
Now that I’ve got that out the way, let’s talk about the event itself.? You already know that free food + free liquor = the best party ever….so it didn’t take long for Patchwerk studios to turn into the Monday night nightclub.? Me….being the wall flower that I am 😯 stayed posted up on the sofa in the studio.? This worked to my advantage cause I basically had the best seat in the house all night long!? Shouts out to Tamiko Hope?(Word-Ink)?for the invite and the assistance!? Tamiko made sure I got all the pics I needed and got me a lil one on one time with the artists.?
I left almost immediately after the listening party…but while waiting on valet noticed that the hootchie-groupies must have gotten their “Baller Alerts” cause they were arriving in droves.? Most were being turned away by the off-duty officer that was posted at the gate, but I’m sure the party was just getting started when I left.? I was a bit disappointed that I didn’t get to holla at Jeezy but Young Ralph (Look Like Money) sorta kinda almost made up for it 😕 ?All in all it was a very positive event and I sincerely wish Blood Raw much success on this release.
