Peep Part I of the “The Untold Story of The Dungeon Family” which is featured in Vibe’s final issue. Will there be a Part II? Who knows… since Vibe Magazine folded and abruptly closed it’s doors a few weeks ago, it all falls on the shoulders of it’s founding father, Quincy Jones, who’s making an effort to save it:

“I’m trying to buy my magazine back now,” Jones told EbonyJet.com on Tuesday, according to an article posted on the Web site.

Vibe, one of the best-selling hip-hop magazines in the country, shut down on Tuesday. Its chief executive officer, Steve Aaron, said the magazine has a debt of “several millions of dollars” and also faced a declining market and decreased advertising revenue.

Jones, a music producer, said he envisioned an online-only future for Vibe. “They just messed my magazine all up, but I’m gonna get it back,” he said.

Jones established the magazine in 1993. It had a circulation of about 600,000, according to Aaron.

The closure eliminates jobs for all 48 staff members, Aaron said. The issue currently on newsstands, featuring Eminem on the cover, is Vibe’s last. (Source)

I’d do Part II my dayum self if I thought I could get all those knee-grows in one place again. Hmmm…. that’s a project I may have to work on.

Vibe Magazine recently released a top 50 list of their favorite hip hop blogs and it’s creating quite a buzz in the blog world. Granted….I have no idea the logic behind how these were chosen but I’m ecstatic that my boo/site designer Zillz made the cut, coming in at #38. I also agree with the #1 choice because Eskay is the undisputed hip hop blog king but since when did WorldStar Hip Hop become a blog? and why isn’t RealTalkNY on this list? Things that make you say hmmmmmm??

Kanye West covers Vibe Magazine’s February 2009 issue looking…well…let’s just say he was looking. Yeezy, who needs to take Tyra’s advice and “smile with his eyes” looked about as depressed as his music is sounding these days. The rapper is not happy about the pic, stating in his blog that, “I DON’T HAVE GREY IN MY BEARD IN REAL LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’M ALL DOWN WITH BEINGS IN MY 30′S BUT DAAAAAAAAMN!!!! THIS IS SOME BENJAMIN BUTTON’S SHIT!”

I didn’t even peep the gray til he pointed it out…but Whatev! Kanye’s obviously embracing his 30’s. Not only is he the new poster child for Just for Men hair color, he’s also proclaimed that his next act of maturity will be to pose nude one day:

“I made a decision. I wanna make popular music, but I want less fans,” he told writer Sean Fennessey when asked if he was comfortable with fame. “I want the freedom of having less fans. It’s like the freedom of having less money. If you have less money, you have less responsibility. It’s like Björk. If she wanted to pose naked, you’d be like, ‘Oh, that’s Björk.’ But if I wanted to pose naked, people would draw all type of things into it. I definitely feel like, in the next however many years, if I work out for two months, that I’ll pose naked. I break every rule and mentality of hip-hop, of black culture, of American culture.” (Source)

Ciara hit up MTV news still disgruntled over the fact that she’s nude on the cover of Vibe Magazine. Although there was no mention of a lawsuit, Ci Ci says she walked into the situation expecting to be involved in an “artistic” photoshoot and says once she saw the photo it was very misleading.  Vibe editor in chief Danyel Smith says she wasn’t at the shoot, but that she knows for a fact Ciara was naked, because being naked was Ciara’s idea. (”It was love and kisses and nakedness,” Smith told New York’s KIIS-FM.) Smith has also stated that she may release the original photos on Vibe’s website so everyone can see for themselves.   To be continued…

Check out Keyshia Cole on the December cover of VIBE magazine.  I think she looks great…maybe a bit over-exposed…but I have breasts so I really don’t care to see hers.
