Seems Kanye’s lil stunt has made it all the way to the white house! During a CNBC interview on Monday, President Obama called hip-hop artist Kanye West a “jackass” regarding his behavior during the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. (Click Here to watch the video of Kanye stealing the mic from Taylor Swift at the VMAs)
Sad thing is, Obama’s remark was actually made in an off-the-record portion of the interview that was tweeted …then deleted by ABC News reporter Terry Moran. Sadly for him, the results of his twitter stream are still searchable on the site: (more…)

Lil Mama has sent out an apology via her PR peeps for her actions last night. In case you missed it, Rapper Lil Mama decided to grace the stage during the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards closing performance, in which Jay-Z and Alicia Keys performed their first-ever collaboration, “Empire State of Mind.” The America’s Best Dance Crew judge hopped out of her seat and onto the stage during the song’s final seconds and pranced around onstage as if she was the headlining act. Word is, Jay attempted to avoid embarrassing her by tapping her on her leg, but apparently she didn’t get the hint. In her statement, Lil Mama says she was merely caught up in the moment:
“I did not mean any disrespect towards Jay-Z or Alicia Keys,” the statement read. “I admire them and look up to them as role models. ‘Empire State of Mind’ had my emotions running high. In that moment I came up onstage to celebrate my two icons singing about NY.” (source)
Kanye West also issued another apology to Taylor Swift for stealing her joy during the awards show as well. Now, I’m still standing by my original assessment that this is all a hoax wonderfully crafted by MTV writers, but viewers are angered so much by Kanye seemingly disrespecting a lil country singer, that they’re gonna keep this going for a while. This is ratings gold!! Why not keep up the drama?? Anyway, Kanye hit up his blog yet again to issue a 2nd apology. The new statement says: (more…)

In a surprise (or very well scripted) moment in time, Beyonce gave Taylor Swift the spotlight she’d lost to Kanye West’s earlier tantrum. This photo definitely tells a story and gives Beyonce another leg up in divadom. I applaud MTV for keeping us entertained yet again!

My personal highlight of the evening for the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards was Kanye Omari West’s diva meltdown during Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech. For some of you, this is probably completely random, but since there was a “leaked” list earlier which listed Beyonce as the winner of this award, some are speculating that MTV may have changed a few of the winners to avoid the embarrassment of having a mole amongst them and of course to save the surprise factor of the popular awards show.

Just as Taylor began telling MTV viewers how much winning best female video meant to her, Kanye West ripped the microphone from her grasp and gave an outraged shout out to Beyonce.
“Taylor, I’m really happy for you. I’ll let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time! One of the best videos of all time!”
Cameras cut to Beyonce, who sat in the audience with jaw dropped in disbelief:

Meanwhile, Taylor was literally speechless as Kanye gave her the microphone back and marched off stage:

This speculation has led me personally to believe that Kanye’s outburst was merely his reaction to truth of the matter. Beyonce was robbed. I think MTV figured she’d had enough over the years and could take the fall this time. Just an observation.

It’s been called the “craziest collaboration EVER” and dayum if it ain’t. *sigh* Taylor Swift and T. Pain (+ his Autotunes thingy + his BIG ASS CHAIN) joined forces in a *cough* “rap” collaboration to open the Country Music Television (CMT) awards show, which aired last night. T. Pain and that dayum autotunes thingy has now sucessfully infiltrated the wonderful world of country music, what’s next….Jazz? Texas? The WORLD? *sigh* I have no words….
