When filmmaker Spike Lee
woke up this morning, I’m sure he had no clue that he would be an internet sensation.
Lee has always been animated and vocal on the sidelines of his favorite team, the New York Knicks, but it appears this time his antics have become an instant online hit an may even win him an ‘InstaGrammy’!
In a pic that has since gone viral Lee strikes a pose on the sidelines. that resembles an angry mother figure.
His hilarious stance has sparked another internet meme sensation and has drawn several comparisons that you probably woulda never thought of on your own.

Legendary filmmaker Spike Lee is not one for holding his tongue…. just ask Tyler Perry! [READ: Word to the Wise. Don’t Ask Spike Lee About Tyler Perry… ] Prior to the release of Django Unchained, Lee gave his word to Django’s lead character, Jamie Foxx, that he wouldn’t go in on the flick. [READ: “Django Unchained” Review + Atlanta Celebs Attend Pre-Screening… (PHOTOS)] Foxx even spoke of their conversation in a recent interview, stating:
“You know Spike, he’ll let you have it whether it’s good, bad or ugly. And he said, ‘I’m not going to say anything bad about this film. It looks like y’all are getting it.'”
Well… scratch all that! Spike apparently feels some kinda way about the film now and is now calling Quentin Tarantino’s latest creation, “disrespectful”. Details below… Continue Reading…
Producer Spike Lee
returned to his hometown of Atlanta last week to promote his latest film, “Red Hook Summer,” which opens in Atlanta on Aug. 24.
Lee appeared on several Atlanta news shows and also hit up Art Terrell’s show on Atlanta radio Kiss104.1, where he took a few listener’s calls, but halfway through the question/answer session, Spike Lee had to put his foot down about the Tyler Perry questions.
As you know, Lee has publicly criticized Perry’s work in the past and Dr. Cornel West even put his 2 cents in their disputed once by comparing the two. Perry responded to all the criticism by telling them all to go straight to hell (and I’m not making that up… he really said that).
But for the record… Spike still doesn’t see it for Mr. Perry and recently refused to answer any questions about the fellow “ATLien”.

It’s official. Tyler Perry is sick and tired of Spike Lee.
Perry and Lee are both phenomenal movie producers. Each with their own individual styles and views. Dr. Cornel West once compared the two, stating that “Spike Lee is great… Tyler Perry is good” but that comparison was subjective in my opinion.
While both men are successful in their own right, Spike has continued to blast Perry on the “buffoonish” nature of his central characters, like Madea and Mr. Brown.
Perry already told the haters to “let that sh*t go” a while ago, but he’s now totally OVER it and has officially told Spike Lee where to go…
I’m so sick of hearing about damn Spike Lee. Spike can go straight to hell! You can print that. I am sick of him talking about me, I am sick of him saying, ‘This is a coon; this is a buffoon.’ I am sick of him talking about black people going to see movies.
This is what he said: ‘You vote by what you see,’ as if black people don’t know what they want to see. Continue Reading…

Director Spike Lee was spotted court side at the Washington Wizards vs New York Knicks game last night (January 24, 2011) at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
The Morehouse alum is an avid basketball fan and rarely misses a Knicks game, but it’s education and minority teachers that currently top his priority list.
Spike will join U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan in Atlanta for a town hall meeting at Morehouse College on January 31st to encourage more African-American males to go into teaching.
The meeting is one of a series of events designed to recruit diverse and highly qualified teachers. And Morehouse, the country’s only all-male historically black college, is part of a plan by Duncan and others to recruit, train and place at least 80,000 male African-American teachers by 2015.
Lee, a Morehouse graduate, is scheduled to share his experiences and explain why more male minority teachers are needed in schools.
