Last Tuesday evening, Shanti Das and Marlon Nichols presented the return of ATL Live on the Park – Season 3, a monthly live music series featuring performances by high-profile R&B artists and emerging talents.
The event, hosted by lifestyle specialist Kenny Burns, was held at the Park Tavern; an indoor/outdoor venue overlooking Atlanta’s historic Piedmont Park.
Several popular guests, including A&R Executive Coach K, RHOA cast member and entrepreneur Peter Thomas, DJ Mars, up and coming pop group the Yes Ma’ams, and more were spotted mingling about while DJ Trauma kept the music flowing between acts.
Guests were treated to a musical montage of live music featuring MySpace music sensation Mateo, R&B extraordinaire Ray Lavender (you may also remember Ray as one of the contestants on that Omarosa dating show), and special guest performer, singer/songwriter/pianist Avery Sunshine.
Fantasia Barrino and her adorable daughter Zion were spotted on the set of Tasia’s new exciting short film, Rube’s Cafe, which recently wrapped filming in Atlanta, Georgia.
In addition to playing producer, the amazing vocalist stars in the flick herself, along with fellow soulful R&B artists/actors Ray Lavender and Terrell Carter as well as the equally gorgeous and talented; Terri J Vaughn and Chrystale Wilson, and more!
Grammy award winning singer/songwriter, Kandi Burruss, who recently announced a planned tour with Fantasia Barrino, will be singing the National Athem at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Georgia Dome, prior to the Bank of America Atlanta Football Classic.
The annual event, hosted and produced by the 100 Black Men of Atlanta, will feature plenty of pre-game activity. I was briefed on the festivities at their recent media mixer, where I was joined by V-103’s Rashan Ali, Ray Lavender (of Omarosa’s “The Ultimate Merger) and more:
Pre-Game Show festivities will include an Autograph Village, where you will meet in-house “celebrity” attendees like Doc Shaw of Disney’s “Pair of Kings” and “Tyler Perry’s House of Payne,” the R&B group Jagged Edge, Ray Lavender and Isaac Keys of Donald Trump’s “The Ultimate Merger and others.
Then Tennessee State University and Florida A&M University hit the gridiron. Both schools’ bands will perform at halftime where history will happen as they plan to solicit audience participation in the largest “Cupid Shuffle” ever…
