You can’t help but pay attention to First Lady Michelle Obama’s style. She’s fast becoming an iconic figure as millions love to glare at her classic signature style.

Mrs. Obama looked amazing Sunday afternoon as she joined Harry Connick Jr. along with a group of young Glee Club members for a special preview of the talent performing at the evenings White House’s annual Governors’ Ball.

For the preview, the first lady wore an above-the-knee pencil skirt and a studded Azzedine Alaia belt.

Will Smith has gone from a so-so rapper to a mega actor and now according to his wife actress Jada Pinkett Smith, her hubby is also eyeing the United States presidential office.

Jada revealed recently that Will is seriously considering the jump from big screen to politics and even hopes to make it to the White House one day. (more…)

A group of Kasim Reed friends and supporters joined forces to host a celebration in honor of our new mayor. Reed, elected 59th Mayor of Atlanta after a crucial run-off, was joined by the “who’s who” of Atlanta including, spotted in the crowd were Ludacris, Attorney Phaedra Parks, Grand Hustle’s Jason Geter, DJ Toomp, and even Reed’s  former opponent Lisa Borders.

In this economy, it seems everybody is trying to find a way to make a buck. Atlanta’s 59th Mayor, Kasim Reed, has been officially inaugurated into office but he began his day early this morning at an Interfaith Inaugural Prayer Service at Ben Hill United Methodist Church.

Reed grew up in the church along with his mother and three brothers and his voice broke as he spoke about growing up in his southside church home. The first time he spoke in public, he said, was in Ben Hill United Methodist Church. Four minutes away from the home where he was raised.

In his speech, Reed spoke of his desire to create a better Atlanta and how community involvement is key:

“If our children cannot rise to the highest levels of this city, what have we become? We’ve got to look in the mirror Atlanta. I am going to work today and focus on making sure that mothers and fathers have a job to make sure they can look their children in the eyes.”

City of Atlanta Mayoral candidate Mary Norwood said she will officially seek a recount after losing the race to former Senator Kasim Reed by less than a 1% margin.  According to the AJC, Mark Henderson with the Fulton County Elections Office confirmed that all but about 700 provisional ballots had been counted. The ballots can’t be tabulated until Thursday, which is the deadline for those voters to provide verification they were eligible.

According to the official tally, Reed led by 750 votes, so even if all of the provisional ballots go to Norwood, it still may not change the outcome but Mary’s not going down without a fight:

“I think a recount,  when you’re this close is appropriate, absolutely appropriate,” Norwood said at a Wednesday morning press conference at her headquarters.

“We came within a razor thin margin of not being able to say we’re the front runner today.”

Under state law, a candidate who loses by less than 1 percent of the votes cast has the right to request a recount. Reed, however, has already claimed victory in the race and is going about the business of setting up plans for his first term as mayor.
