Young Jeezy has been shooting the video for “My President is Black” at several locations in the Atlanta area. The video is being directed by Gabriel Heart and the final drop was held on Auburn Avenue at The Martin Luther King Center and Ebenezer Baptist Church yesterday afternoon. Check out the video via Access Atlanta/AJC:
The Kenny Burns Show (TKBS) was also there to capture a few behind the scenes moments on film check out more video footage below: (more…)
Check out our new President-elect Barack Obama, his beautiful wife Michelle (dontcha just love that name!) and their two cute daughters, Malia & Sasha in their 2007 holiday message. Mrs. Obama starts things off with a generous thank you to the people of Iowa and New Hampshire, where the ad was first broadcast last year:
“We would like to take a moment to thank you and your family for the warmth and friendship that you have shown ours; for sharing your hospitality and your stories,” she says.
Mr. Obama follows: In this holiday season we are reminded that the things that unite us as a people are more powerful and enduring than anything that sets us apart. And we all have a stake in each other, in something larger than ourselves. So from my family to yours, I am Barack Obama and I approve this message.
Maybe she had just watched “The Color Purple” or maybe she was just on them beans…again! Whatever the case, Lindsey Lohan was dead ass wrong for referring to President-elect Barack Obama as “our first colored president” on tonight’s Access Hollywood. I almost expect this from red-necked Georgian’s but Hollywood!!! Oh my! I’m more disappointed that the interviewer didn’t call her out on it and they just continued their worthless chatter! *sigh* First the hot-mess cotton-pickin’ inauguration gown and now this! Y’all have got to do better…
This sh*t has more twists and turns in it than my curly wig! Here’s the story, website owner, Tina Brown, contacted someone she THOUGHT was Jay McCarroll, Project Runway’s first season winner, via email asking him to contribute sketches of a proposed inaugural gown for Michelle Obama. Brown received several sketches, one of which portrayed the first lady in a headscarf and what appeared to be a red, white & blue burlap sac dress. Now…instead of immediately tossing the item as a joke, Brown posts the dress on her site and praised the designer, who happened to be Jay McCarrol <—(with one “l”), a musician whose name is often confused with the Project Runway fashionista. Carrol (with one “l”) said he was just “f*cking around” when he decided to take her up on her offer to design an inaugural gown and enlisted the help of a friend to construct the nonsense pictured below as a joke: (more…)
President-elect Barack Obama and his daughters, Malia and Sasha are such a beautiful representation of Father/Daughter relationships. I ran across several pictures which reflect a loving and dedicated father as well as a great man. These pictures tell a beautiful story:
Ciara covers the December 2008 issue of Right-On magazine with somewhat of a different look. She is really going all out with her “Go Girl” glamour image. Love it! Especially the throwback POW! doorknocker earrings created by Melody Ehsani. The photo was captured by Atlanta celebrity photographer Derek Blanks.
Ciara also took a moment yesterday to share her election night memories of Barack Obama’s historic win:
The 23-year-old spent election night going back and forth from inside an Atlanta rehearsal studio to the hallway to check the results. “Finally, when rehearsals were over I just sat in the lobby area where the TVs are and watched the speeches. Just took it all in.
“I’ve just been feeling this sense of pride, like for days now,” she said. “Not just because of the history of the first black president — but because I just believe he will be a great president. Black people didn’t just vote for him, all ethnicities did. And I think that’s because Barack Obama sees us all as one. All Americans.
“I didn’t cry last night when I was watching his speech, but when I was driving here to rehearsal today, they were playing it on the radio with [contemporary gospel singer] Marvin Sapp’s ‘Never Would Have Made It’ underneath, and I just started boo-hooing.” (source)
