Some flashback footage of Jermaine Dupri has been circulating the net showing the mogul way before he was famous. JD rocks a highlighted gumby while his mom, Cecelia Mauldin speaks about her rapper/producer son and his talents. In the video, JD (circa 1986) gives a bit of advice to up and coming producers by telling them that it’s a must to have the right people behind them and to never give up. It’s so refreshing to see how hard work and passion pays off.

Fast forward 13 years and you’ve got Jermaine (circa 2009) joined by his Ocean’s 7 crew which includes Trey Songz and Nelly. Nelly did a bit of a flashback himself to Country Grammar, as he reprises his singing chops on the chorus of the new joint.

I’ve run into him quite a few times, but never really had a real conversation until recently. It’s funny how life has a way of connecting you with people. Atlanta’s celebs came out in droves last night to raise money for victims of the recent Atlanta Flood. Jermaine Dupri, Nelly, & V-103 hosted the celebrity charity bowling event entitled, Atlanta Stand-Up at Red Carpet Lanes in Duluth. I, personally witnessed the friendly competition between JD and Nelly’s team vs. Big Boi & nem. I have no idea who won but there was a ton of cash on the heads of all involved.

Spotted in their best bowing attire were Lance Gross, Trey Songz, Neffe, Kandi, Rasheeda, Frankie, Big Gipp , Lil’ Brotha, Mike Bigga (formerly Killer Mike) and more! The event was not without it’s drama, being that a one Atlanta Blogger got booted for talking about JD’s height, but other than that it was a positive fun event.

Word on the street is that Nelly & Ashanti have parted ways:

A source close to the couple told the New York Daily News that they two split up because she was ready to get married, but he wasn’t willing to put a ring on it. Reportedly he’s been having a good time as a single man, and he’s recently been seen in Las Vegas and Miami with video vixen Jessica Rabbit.

So far, neither Nelly nor Ashanti have said anything about the alleged split. (source)

The Tabernacle is gonna be bumpin on August 29th!  That’s the date that Nelly is performing for $$”FREE-99″ in Atlanta.  Nelly, along with Nas and Mariah Carey have been slated to perform as part of the second annual Samsung AT&T Summer Krush, a free summer concert series designed to highlight Samsung’s BlackJack II mobile phone.  Nas is scheduled to perform at Webster Hall in New York on Aug. 27 and Mariah kicks off the series July 31st in Los Angeles.  A limited number of free tickets will be available through radio promotions, artist fan clubs, street teams and online registration at www.samsungsummerkrush.com.
