Monica Brown has always been one of my favorite Atlanta artists and just a few days ago, she celebrated the 20th anniversary of her first album, Ms. Thang!
Producer Dallas Austin, who is hailed as the driving force behind TLC’s rise to stardom, saw Monica do a rendition of Whitney Houston’s “Greatest Love of All” and was so impressed that he took her under his wing and signed her to his Arista Records-distributed label, Rowdy Records.
It was on July 18, 1995, that Monica’s debut album hit shelves to much fanfare and acclaim for her strong vocals and feisty swagger. Ms. Thang peaked at No. 7 on Billboard‘s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and produced multiple hit singles, like “Don’t Take It Personal (Just One of Dem Days),” and the double A-Side single, “Before You Walk Out of My Life” and “Why I Love You So Much.” Both singles peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, making Monica the youngest artist in history — she was 14 at the time — with consecutive No. 1 songs.
Both Dallas and Monica hit the net recently to reminisce about the album that started it all for the talented songstress.

Singer Monica and her hubby Shannon Brown coordinated on the red carpet as the singer played host to The Gold Room Sunday night (May 24, 2015).
Mo was co-host of the weekly event alongside DJ Sense.
Also spotted in the packed venue: NBA baller Lou Williams (Toronto Raptors), up & coming artist Veronica Vega, and rapper/actress Eve, who’s in town shooting Barbershop 2 and more.

Christopher “Ludacris” Bridges and his lovely bride Eudoxie posed for the photo above during their beautiful baby shower in Atlanta last weekend.
Eudoxie was surrounded by family and friends while her two besties, singer Monica Brown and LeToya Luckett played host to the event.
Ludacris’ daughter Karma was also in attendance and basked in the joy of her new stepmom’s impending arrival.

and Monica Brown
(two of my favorite people) strike a pose in the photo above.
Monica was visiting New Orleans, Louisiana last Sunday (March 8, 2015) and payed a visit to ‘Mama Mia’s,’ the restaurant owned by her good friend, rapper Mia X.
It basically was pandemonium once the DJ announced Mo was in the building and the superstar singer, who was joined by her husband Shannon Brown and brother Romelo, posed for photos with several in attendance.

She came… she saw… she slayed!! Singer Monica Brown fashionably hit the stage to play host to Bronner Brothers Live Afterdark last Saturday night (February 21, 2015).
The ‘BB Live Afterdark’ event is apparently a new feature at The Bronner Brother Hairshow. After perusing the latest hair products and innovative techniques, guests were treated to live comedy and musical performances.
Monica was joined by her hubby Shannon Brown and Demetria McKinney (one of the background characters on this season’s Real Housewives of Atlanta) was also spotted at the event (without her ‘boyfriend’ Roger Bobb).
Monica & Demetria look like they’re dressed for two different seasons 😆
