It’s only been a little under 9 months since Lyfe Jennings made it into our mugshot mania gallery but he seems to be bouncing back from all the drama quite well. Lyfe, a native of Toledo, Ohio and an Atlanta transplant, is set to release a new project under his own label this fall and is pounding the promo trail to get the word out:
SOONER OR LATER, is the first release to come out on Lyfe’s new label Jesus Swings. He notes: “I am happy to be working with Asylum/Warner Bros. to introduce Jesus Swings. It’s a new found independence for me and it’s rewarding to get to call the shots. It takes a real man to accept living and dying by his thoughts, and rising and falling by his dreams.”
LYFE JENNINGS, transformed the music world in 2004 after the release of his critically acclaimed debut Lyfe 268-192. Hailed as gritty and raw, the album created devoted fans everywhere and sold over a million copies.
LYFE captured an even broader audience in 2006 with his sophomore effort, The Phoenix, which expanded on his life story, taking listeners through different phases of a man. The album featured the smash hit, “S-E-X,” a cautionary tale for young women from a male perspective. He went on to release Lyfe Changes in 2008.
LYFE’s SOONER OR LATER offers more of the real life stories that he loves to weave. When Lyfe gives you his music he truly gives you a piece of himself.
Shouts out to my girl Theda Sandiford over at MissTheda.com for the photos and the info.
A video for “HATERS” will be coming soon. Sooner or Later should be on shelves September 22nd.

Chester “Lyfe” Jennings has been served a restraining order filed by his children’s mother, Joy Bounds. Jennings, arrested Sunday night after a high speed chase with Cobb County police, was apparently upset that he couldn’t see his kids. News reports are still surfacing with more details of the situation but I’m sure we will hear lots more before it all over.

Lyfe Jennings: Out on Bond & No Stranger to Domestic Issues
Chester “Lyfe” Jennings, pictured above during happier times with his kids and their mother Joy Bounds, is apparently no stranger to domestic issues. Police reports revealed yesterday that Lyfe kicked in the door of Bound’s Marietta home in search of her and shot several rounds into the street before fleeing and leading Cobb County police on a high speed chase. Bounds, who is good friends with T.I.’s boo Tiny, has been going through it with her babies father for quite some time now. In August of this year, Lyfe was even put on blast for terrorizing the young lady via the following email to SandraRose:
.. July 21 Lyfe left his tour [and] flew back to Atlanta so he could go and have the electricity turned OFF at the house where his 2 young sons (one still in diapers) live …and Mister (hmmmmm that name suits him) went to the house so he could watch the electric company guy turn it off! He told the Georgia Power Company that the house (which is in his name) was empty and to remove the meter… wellll when the electric guy saw that it was indeed someone living there and the bill was paid and up to date he wouldn’t remove the meter …Mister …got really nasty the police was called and evrrythang …but waitttttttttttttt its more ….I know you saying “hell dat’s enough”.
He then calls a lock smith to change the locks and goes down to the courts to get an eviction notice served….and hell dat wasn’t even enough he took the car knowing the kids car seats wouldn’t fit in the 2 seater car he left “BUT” took the keys to it……… Then he tells [personal info removed] he did all this cause he LOVES his kids and want his family back!! …saying this while calling his bank to put a Stop payment on the child support check that she had gotten the day before… the 1st in 3 months…. I guess he forgot the part he played in breaking up his family… Mister ‘rap-it-up didn’t follow his own advice… 2 babies on the way with 1 of the mama’s being a one night stand!!
Currently Lyfe has been charged with Criminal Trespass, Discharging a Firearm Near a Public Highway, DUI-Refusal, all misdemeanors. He was released Monday night on $50,000 bond. If it’s his house that he kicked the door in on, the misdemeanor charge for Criminal Trespass will probably be dropped. He’ll still have to answer to the gun charge and it’s possible that his felony charge has been expunged (he was 14 when he served a 10 year bid for felony arson). My advice to Lyfe…lay low and stay outta Cobb and Dekalb.
The saga continues.

Mugshot Mania ~ Lyfe Jennings Arrested in Cobb County

Cobb County got another one! Atlanta transplant Lyfe Jennings aka Chester J. Jennings, 35, was arrested Sunday night in Marietta, Georgia after leading officers on a high speed car chase. Officers, originally responding to reports of gunshots in the area, observed Jennings’ red 2005 Chevy Corvette jetting the scene and gave chase, which led to him crashing the vehicle.
At the conclusion of their investigation officers, arrested and charged Mr. Jennings with Criminal Trespass, Discharging a Firearm Near a Public Highway, DUI-Refusal, all misdemeanors. Mr. Jennings was also charged with Attempting to Elude and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, both felonies.
Mr. Jennings was lodged at the Smyrna City Jail where he was later transferred to the Cobb County Detention Facility. suspect vehicle leaving the area. The vehicle was a red 2005 Chevrolet corvette, later determined to be registered to Chester J. Jennings, of Marietta, GA.
I’m not clear on whether the crash or the officers caused the scars on Lyfe’s face, but since Jennings is a convicted felon he may NEVER get out of that mutha! I keep telling y’all transplants not to f*ck around in CC…but you won’t listen!
**UPDATE** Looks like Baby Momma Drama caused Lyfe’s disruptive behavior. Jennings, kicked in the door of a residence on Springwoods Drive in Smyrna belonging to his children’s mother, Joy Pound, according to an arrest warrant. He fired the gun in the street and later tried to run from the Smyrna police when they arrived, police said. Jennings is a convicted felon who served 10 years in prison from 1992-2002 on a felony charge when he was 14. ~ Via AJC
