“In The Closet’ ~ Michael Jackson ft. Naomi Campbell
Michael Jackson and Eddie Murphy may seem like they have absolutely nothing in common but actually they were quite good friends. Early in his career, Eddie used Mike as subject matter in his stand up, where he joked about Michael’s emotional performance of “She’s Outta My Life”, and as Eddie’s star rose, he and Mike gained a mutual respect for one another.
Check out a few choice videos of the two of them together below,? beginning with Eddie’s 1983 Delirious roast of Jackson and ending with the two of them appearing in each other’s music videos: Continue Reading…
“This loss has deeply saddened me, with a heavy heart I composed this statement. May God cover you Michael. We all lift your name up in prayer. I pray for the entire JACKSON family particularly Michael?s mother and all his fans that loved him so much. I would not be the artist, performer, and philanthropist I am today without the influence of Michael. I have great admiration and respect for Him and I?m so thankful I had the opportunity to meet and perform with such a great entertainer In so many ways he transcended culture. He broke barriers, he changed radio formats! With music, he made it possible for people like Oprah Winfrey and Barack Obama to impact the mainstream world. His legacy is unparalleled Michael Jackson will never be forgotten.? ~ Usher via Twitter
It’s no secret where Usher found the inspiration for his signature moves. Check out a flashback video of he and Mike in an onstage dance battle below with a funny surprise guest: Continue Reading…
It was only about a year ago that Koch recording artist and Oomp Camp underground sensation, Baby D was set to release his first mainstream album “A-Town’s Secret Weapon” so I thought I’d dedicate my flashback spot to him. “Do It” really isn’t that old but it never really got off the ground since Baby D wasn’t around to promote it. He got locked up a few weeks before the album’s release date, allegedly for trafficking drugs. Last I heard, Baby D was still incarcerated without bond.
Hopefully he’ll be back on the scene soon. Maybe in about 5 to 10… *sigh*

Once a staple at Greenbriar Flea Market, Eddie’s Gold Teeth catered to any ATLien who had an appetite for a grill. So in honor of the “Flashback,” I thought I’d devote a post to Mr. Eddie Plein. The “godfather of grills,” also known as the owner of Eddie’s Gold Teeth.
I’ve never met Eddie personally, but I HAVE met several recipients of his custom works. By the way, you have too…there’s Big Boi, Andre 3000, Big Gipp, Lil Jon, Cee-Lo….the list goes on and on.
Not to mention the non-rapping regular joes who just wanted to have a lil GOLD in their mouf!
The fad has since gave way to porcelain veneers but the fond memories of the bling shall remain in our hearts forever.
Yep…Eddie Plein was/is responsible for all of THAT and contrary to popular belief, wearing grills started in South America and not Southwest Atlanta! Ha!
Peep what Eddie had to say about how the fad started, why his craziest request was from Andre 3000 and what he’s up to now: Continue Reading…
