This sh*t has more twists and turns in it than my curly wig! Here’s the story, website owner, Tina Brown, contacted someone she THOUGHT was Jay McCarroll, Project Runway’s first season winner, via email asking him to contribute sketches of a proposed inaugural gown for Michelle Obama. Brown received several sketches, one of which portrayed the first lady in a headscarf and what appeared to be a red, white & blue burlap sac dress. Now…instead of immediately tossing the item as a joke, Brown posts the dress on her site and praised the designer, who happened to be Jay McCarrol <—(with one “l”), a musician whose name is often confused with the Project Runway fashionista. Carrol (with one “l”) said he was just “f*cking around” when he decided to take her up on her offer to design an inaugural gown and enlisted the help of a friend to construct the nonsense pictured below as a joke: (more…)
Beyonce and her lil sis, Solange, hit up the EiGHT MiLLiON Ginza Gates Store Opening in Tokyo, Japan Friday to promote a line of handbags by Japanese designer, Samanath Thavasa. The sisters made history by being the first African-Americans to appear in an ad campaign for the company. A billboard of the two is also prominetly displayed in the fashion district in Tokyo.

Barack Obama inspired fashion hit Paris runways during the Spring 2009 shows at Paris Fashion Week. Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, Sonia Rykiel, Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte and Stella McCartney were among several designers promoting the Democratic nominee on the runways of their shows. BTW…there were no signs of McCain wear. Go figure…
