Monica discusses her favorite O.S.A.M. (Old School Atlanta Memory). She fondly reminisces about winning her first talent show at the age of 11 by singing “The Greatest Love of All” at Center Stage. She had me dying when she told me that she was “in the midst of getting a ponytail…not my own” and arrived at the venue with her hair molded so that she could be on time!
Monica also spoke about how she felt the love from her hometown of the “A” and how Ryan Cameron, Kevin Wells & Dallas Austin, who were all there to support her first big day, are still in her life today.
Bad Boy recording artists Day 26 hit the “A” yesterday and held a short meet & greet/listening session at Warner Brothers/Atlantic offices. I got a chance to check out a few songs from their upcoming release “Forever and a Day” and a brief moment to gawk at the sexiness that is Willie! Brian announced each song and entertained everyone with his dance moves while Robert chilled and made sure his mohawk was straight. After watching Que’s meltdown last week on Making the Band 4, it was hard not to notice that he was sitting off to the side while the other members of the group discussed the album:
Oh…don’t worry, I saved some for my favorite Day26-er, Big Mike too, as he sat at the head of the table doing his best Diddy impression with hat, leather jacket, sunglasses and all:

I so sorry y’all…I’ve been holding on to this Slim of 112 interview for about 2 weeks now. *sigh* I admit it…I suck! But he and I had a lil sit down at The Grape in Atlantic Station (mmmmm Muscato!) and we chopped it up for a while. Slim’s new CD “Love’s Crazy” is on heavy rotation on the “A” pod and “So Fly” is my dayum personal theme song. He’s such a cool dude and is definitely Straight from the A…Cleveland Ave to be exact!
Slim has come a long way from the lead singer of 112. He has his own record label and now he’s calling the shots. Although he kind of disappointed me when he told me that he doesn’t speak to any of his former group members, he did say he has no ill feelings towards any of them and he’s sure they’re all doing big things.
I jumped on TWITTER and asked my followers if they had any questions for him:
babajee@ATLien question for slim: when did you realize that your unique voice, could possibly get you a record deal?
wmicahw@ATLien didn’t know he was that close with faith evans until reading her book, what are his thoughts on “notorious” n the bad boy situation
pooda@ATLien would he consider a collab w Keri Hilson? I think their voices would mesh well
Slim answered just about everything and he held nothing back. (BTW…he’s not on twitter yet, but I’m working on it!) He talked at length about his feelings about being on Bad Boy, Diddy’s involvement in the group’s success and we even touched on his love life. Slim also revealed that that the “Heels On” (Remix) feat. Deezbo and Ron Browz is getting mad love these days on the airwaves.

I caught up with Monica yesterday and got a chance to inquire about all of her upcoming projects. Tons of her loyal fans have been hitting me up recently asking “wassup with the album?“, as well as seeking confirmation about her reality show, so I figured why not go to the source! There are two songs circulating the net right now, “Taxi” (which you may have heard during her PeachtreeTV reality show) and “Once in a Lifetime.” Both are creating quite a buzz! The main thing Monica wants to get across is that neither song is the single, so don’t get it twisted. She’s recorded over 100+ songs in her quest to find the right mix and she’s still in the lab with several producers, most notably B-Cox and Missy Elliot. But don’t fret…it’s coming!
Monica has been very busy lately. In addition to recording her own songs, she’s currently featured on her good friend, Keyshia Cole’s “Trust” and they’re preparing to shoot the video. She also just happened to be on her way to meet with the producer of her new BET reality show. That’s right! Mo’s show is hitting prime-time and is a done deal! The show, appropriately titled Still Standing starts production in a few short weeks and the first show will air sometime around the 2nd week of September. On the show, Monica hopes to touch the lives of troubled young women by sharing her journey in an open and honest way. She’s currently seeking clearance to take a camera crew into a women’s federal prison. (She ain’t skerred!) If you don’t know, Mo’s the realest in the game, so don’t let nobody tell you otherwise! She gave me quite an earful as we chatted about all the A-town gossip off camera. On camera, Monica gave her fans the 411 and repped her hometown of Atlanta to the fullest!
