Block Entertainment’s Gorilla Zoe is on a mission to be fit and fine in 2009. Zoe, who is preparing for the release his sophomore album “Don’t Feed Da Animals,” has committed to a 12 week weight loss challenge appropriately titled, “Don’t Feed Da Animal”. His goal is to lose 40 pounds from his 230 pound frame.
I caught up with Gorilla Zoe recently and he gave me a little insight about the challenge. Since starting the new regimen, Zoe’s lost 5 pounds, although he stresses that it wasn’t easy AT ALL!
Check out his hilarious progress report:

My all-time favorite ATLien, Antwan “Big Boi” Patton was honored this weekend by the Collective Renaissance Guild of the National Black Arts Festival (NBAF). The event, dubbed “The Art of Change,” was a star-studded celebration of Big Boi’s collaboration with the Atlanta Ballet in “Big” and he was awarded the 2008 Renaissance Award for “Artistic Innovation”. In a symbolic gesture of passing the baton from one generation to the next, Dr. Cornel West presented Big Boi the award after a crowd raising speech in the atrium of Mercedes Benz of Buckhead.
The event was hosted by Rashan Ali and Kenny Burns, while DJ Trauma kept the house rocking. Several celebs were also there to celebrate with Big Boi. Check out a few exclusive flix courtesy of NecoleBitchie as well as StraightFromTheA.com exclusive video footage of Dr. West’s speech and Big Boi’s acceptance of the honor below: Continue Reading…
AT&T threw an “Unofficial” SEC Championship After Party starring Ludacris w/special guest SouljaBoy Tellem. The event was held at the Tabernacle in Atlanta, GA and StraightFromTheA.com gave one valued reader guaranteed access. Check out the video above sent over from AT&T.
The ever beautiful Keri Hilson performed at an event hosted by Lexus last night in Atlanta and I decided to crash the party and try out my new camcorder. Keri graced the stage at Puritan Mill and performed about 4 songs and I caught 3 of them on camera. In the video above, she performs the original version of Runaway Love and in the two under the cut she performs Mary J. Blige’s “Take Me As I Am” and ends the show with “Energy”. Continue Reading…
Plies hosted a private listening party Monday (Dec. 1st) at Atlanta’s Patchwerk Studios for his upcoming album, “Da Realest”, and I can honestly say he got me. I’ve never been a big fan of Plies (please hold your fire) because I’m not really into all that goon buisness, but after meeting him and hearing the sincerity in his voice I’m finally a fan.
Plies began the listening session with a special shout out to all of the invited attendees. As we all sat and waited patiently to roast him, he greeted us all warmly and humbly thanked us for taking time out of our busy schedules to attend. He mentioned how blessed he was to be in a situation where he no longer had to worry about feeding his kids and taking care of his family. Continue Reading…
Polow Da Don and the entire Zone 4, Inc. crew held their 2nd annual Turkey GiveAway Tuesday (Nov. 25th) in Southwest Atlanta. In addition to receiving a free turkey, families were given the opportunity to enter a drawing to receive free rent/mortgage for a year. The crowd was astronomical as V-103s Greg Street did a live remote while Polow, Keri Hilson and Rich Boy all mingled amongst the crowd.
I cornered Polow for a lil one-on-one (get your minds out the gutter!) and he and I reminisced about growing up on the southside.
