Morehouse college has revealed a new policy on campus which they say is designed to uphold “the image of a strong black man.”  The new policy is creating a bit of backlash because people are saying that it is alienating gay students at the all-male historically Black college. The new policy details 11 expectations of students, including:

* no caps, do-rags and/or hoods in classrooms, the cafeteria, or other indoor venues

* no sun glasses worn in class or at formal programs

* no jeans at major programs, as well as no sagging pants on campus

* no clothing with derogatory or lewd messages either in words or pictures

* no wearing of clothing usually worn by women (dresses, tops, tunics, purses, pumps, etc.) on the Morehouse campus or at college-sponsored events.

It’s the restriction on women’s clothing that causing an uproar at the school. In a city where men in pumps carrying purses is somewhat commonplace and revered on “reality” television, Morehouse is taking a stand and seems to be attempting to give our historic city some dignity. Real Housewives of Atlanta newbie Kandi Buress was spotted partying with fellow castmate Kim Zolciak about a week ago. Apparently the two “housewives” completed some sort of photoshoot that showcased their love for each other by displaying the unity of Black & White. *sheds tear* How beautiful… [insert side-eye here].  In case you haven’t noticed, Kim is the only Caucasian castmate on the Atlanta show while the other “Real Housewife of…” shows have an all White/European/Italian..i.e. non-Black cast.   In the grand scheme of things it doesn’t really matter since the shows actually portray ALL of them in a crazy “A”zz negative light but I guess there had to be some sort of obvious display of racial unity…

It’s cute…but where are the other “housewives”

I did happen to spot Sheree´Whitfield in the crowd but it appears she just stopped by on her way to the mall.

And I must not forget the FABULESS-NESS that is…. Derek J! It wouldn’t be a real party without him and his outlandish outfits! Plus, when I read that he and Kim had a shoe battle…it was a done deal!

The 1st Annual Fashion & Style Honors was held Tuesday night at Opera. Dwight Eubanks, the unofficial/official 6th housewife from The Real Housewives of Atlanta, hosted the event which was a whos-who of the Atlanta fashion industry. A few of my favs, Celebrity Photographer Derek Blanks and Celebrity Hairstylist Derek J were spotted in the crowd and from the photos it seemed to be a successful event. That is…until the streets started talking!

While Sheree’ Whitfield was somewhere in hiding Saturday night after she ditched her own Divorce Party, the other “housewives” were over at Dwight’s Purple Door Salon partying it up with all the celebrity stylists and their fabulous friends. Of course it wouldn’t be a RHOA party without NeNe Leakes and Lisa Wu Hartwell in the mix! Dwight is still campaigning for his housewife title so Bravo was there to capture it all on tape for the new season.

I swung through but I was rhett to go in about a minute and a half! Especially after one dude (whose makeup was flawless by the way) asked me about my houndstooth coat and said…“We’re about the same size…I could ROCK that!” *sigh* I knew it was way past time to go!  Although I must say that I LOVES me some Derek J, I could only take so much of men in women’s clothing.

There are not enough words in my small “A”zz vocabulary to describe the FABULOUS-NESS that is…celebrity hairstylist Derek J!  Seriously…I <3 him more than you’ll even know and strive to be at least half the woman he is! Derek was doin’ it, yet again, last Saturday as I ran into him at both the “Divorce Party” and Dwight’s Purple Door soiree. I couldn’t help but create a special lil video as an ode to his creamy Swag!
