Common Hosts Private Atlanta Screening of New Film “LUV”… [PHOTOS + Official Trailer]

Hip hop star turnt actor, Common played host to an exclusive private screening of his new film at Atlanta’s Frank Ski’s Restaurant Friday evening (January 11, 2013).

Common’s movie is entitled ‘LUV’ and he stars in it alongside newcomer, Michael Rainey Jr. The two appear onscreen as an impressionable kid and his badass uncle in what is billed as a ‘coming-of-age story’ set in Baltimore.

The film’s director, Sheldon Candis and producer, Sean Gates held a question/answer session after the screening for the audience of Atlanta influencers & media.

Guests included: Rapper/Actor David Banner, celebrity hairstylist Derek J, Stevie J, Joseline Hernandez (Love & Hip Hop Atlanta), Producer DJ Toomp, Kandi Burruss ~~and her fiance~~ boyfriend Todd Tucker (Real Housewives of Atlanta) and more…

Coldest MC Search Draws T.I., Ice Cube, Lil Scrappy, Toya Wright & More… [PHOTOS]

‘Friday’ came a day early as Craig aka Oshea Jackson aka Ice Cube made a stop in Atlanta for the Coors Light “Coldest MC” Search Thursday evening (June 28, 2012).

The event was held at Reign night club all the MC’s came out to support.

In addition to Ice Cube, T.I. hit the stage as well as Lil Scrappy, who’s getting a bit of career rejuvenation from his involvement with Love & Hip Hop Atlanta.

Also spotted at the event was Toya Wright, David Banner, DJ Drama, Bushwick Bill and more!

A David Banner/Crooked Lettaz Flashback…

[NOTE from ATLien: Most of my peeps know that David Banner is one of my fantasy boyfriends. That being said, this flashback of Lisa Cunningham's experiences working with him before he "cleaned up" is one of my personal favs. The "secret" in the post may go way over some of y'all's heads but that's ok. It still gives me a moment to drool over one of my favs. Enjoy!]

I will never forget the feeling I had on a conference call one day in 2000 when I worked for Tommy Boy Records and my boss, the Sr. Vice President of Promotions, said that we were changing our focus.

He said that the group known as the Crooked Lettaz were no longer a PRIORITY for us. I was in shock! Never being afraid to rock the boat, I did the unthinkable and objected to my bosses new order. Check out a few flix from David Banner’s appearance on MTV’s TRL today. He is still on the grind for his “Greatest Story Ever Told” CD which was released in June. Also watch his newest video for “So Long.” Not one for holding his tongue…Banner screams for our youth to act on the injustices in our society with the line “our generation won’t do sh*t!” He also films a portion of the video in front of the Atlanta home of Ms. Kathryn Johnston, the elderly woman who was shot by crooked Atlanta cops in 2006:

“Ms. Kathryn Johnston was murdered by police, in Northwest Atlanta but I don’t hear it in the streets…where the anger in the hood for this old lady dyin?”
