Atlantic Records held a private listening party for T.I.’s hot artist, B.o.B., Friday evening. B.o.B., short for Bobby Ray is a Decatur bred musical phenomenon who’s been featured on several Grand Hustle songs. He’s got a hot song in rotation (I’ll be in the Sky), which is almost unheard of for a new artist without an album…AND he’s got a grand endorsement from The King himself:
I know that a lot of times it take an artist this talented, this diversified a little longer to break on an underbelly level cause it’s very very hard to get him to come back down to earth with us sometimes but I’m letting you know that nothing could be more worth your time than this artist right here…right now. This is the future of what I consider respectable in hip hop. It ain’t nothing this dude can’t do. If he don’t rap, it ain’t cause he can’t it’s cause he don’t feel like it. If he ain’t on no hood sh*t, it cause that ain’t how he feel.
So, rather than force him to do something he don’t wanna do, I’d just rather sit back and admire all the things he does do. He does the sh*t well, so it brings me great honor and enormous pleasure to introduce B.o.B. to the rest of the world and I hope y’all stand behind him as much as I do. And with that said I must bid you farewell. Keep it pimpin…
I can honestly say, B.o.B. is the truth and I CAN”T WAIT for his cd to drop. In case you still need some convincing, download the “Who the F*ck is B.o.B.” Mixtape below: Continue Reading…
Check out a few flix from the 2009 Trumpet Awards honoree and sponsor dinner held Saturday evening at the Hyatt. Raven-Symone (pictured above Xerona Clayton, the award’s founder), Chris Tucker, Sherri Shepherd and more came out to support the honorees.
Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes posthumous album, Eye Legacy is dropping January 27th. In the meantime, check out a sample from the project, which is composed of remixes and previously-unreleased songs. If some of you recognize the vocals from the new single, Block Party, that’s because it’s a remix of her first and only solo single (from Supernova). While most of Lopes’ raps are retained, Surefire and Marcus DL provide a brand new, up-tempo beat, with Clyde McKnight singing the hook. Lil Mama adds a modern day feel to an old song by blending her vocals with Lisa’s. Check it out below and let me know what you think.
Word on the street is that André Benjamin’s Benjamin Bixby clothing line isn’t selling very well, but that may soon change after it’s creator’s current nomination. GQ Magazine recently dubbed Dre (aka Andre 3000) as one of the Best New Designers in America and he took a moment to reveal his style influence to the world:
The influence: “In high school, in Atlanta, when Grand Puba told us to wear Girbaud jeans, I wore Girbaud jeans. Then you had this prep movement happening: Ralph Lauren, Eddie Bauer, Bass, Sebago, and Timberland. So imagine me walking through [local housing project] Bowen Homes in the morning to catch the bus, but I’m dressed like a prep. As you get older, you go back to those things.” (Source)
This is the magazine’s 3rd annual search for the hottest desginer in Men’s fashion and Andre has a great chance of winning the acclaimed honor. Way to go Dre….keep doin your thang!
