Kayne West covers the March 2009 of Detail Magazine looking mad fly. He has absolutely no reason to get mad about this cover cause we can’t see the ‘grey in his beard‘ this time. In the feature, Ye speaks on being seen as narcissistic and self-absorbed and also talks about being the voice of a generation:
“If not me, then who? Someone could be a better rapper, dance better. But culturally impacting? When you look back at these four and a half years, who’s the icon at the end of the day? Who broke down color barriers? What other black guy would a white person use as a fashion reference?”
Kanye also just dropped his latest video for “Welcome to Heartbreak” featuring Kid Cudi on his blog this morning but claims he only released it because it has some new technology in he wanted to be the first to use it:
This is not the next single, “Amazing” is the next single. This is the video we’ve been working on for the last month.
We know there is another video out there using the same technique so we were forced to drop it now.
It’s directed by Nabil Elderki, the person who also directed Kanye’s Champion video (remember the puppets?). Anywhoo…check out the new video below:
I can’t even keep track of how many songs have ‘leaked’ from Ciara’s upcoming Fantasy Ride project. Like for real… how many is it? At any rate, check out this new snippit produced by Polow Da Don, entitled “I’m A G”
Hot/Not? Who knows? I’m suffering from Ciara Fantasy Ride overload… *sigh*
Usher Raymond was spotted leaving the Sirio-Libanes Hospital in Sao Paulo Brazil after a visit to his wife Tameka last weekend. A Brazilian news outlet reports that Mrs. Raymond, who is still in the hospital after suffering cardiac arrest that occurred during a plastic surgery procedure over a week ago, is still recovering and is taking antibiotics to fight a lung infection, somewhat common in these cases.
Although he spent most of his time at the hospital with Tameka, Ursh was still able to do a bit of Brazillian sight-seeing, as he was photographed walking around Sao Paulo’s Jardins neighborhood and doing a little shopping with a pal over the weekend.
I’m confident Tameka’s condition is improving since her hubby was spotted on his way back to the U.S. yesterday. That’s a good sign that things should be back to normal in the Raymond household soon. My prayers are with them and their family.
Gorilla Zoe likes girls who like girls and he likes to sing about it. In his new song “I Like Dem Girls” produced by Drumma Boy from his upcoming Don’t Feed The Animals project, Zoe lays it down once again with his gruff vocals and it actually works. I’m getting a Prince circa 1989 feel to this track. I can only imagine the video. I’m picturing Wendy & Lisa on the keyboards and a newly slimmed down Gorilla Zoe in backless pants and purple ruffles. I kidd…I kidd!
Check it out below and let me know what you think:
Meet Laura Izibor. Ms. Izibor, hot new songstress from Atlantic Records has been making mad waves in the music industry with her soulful vocals and lyricism. She’s been named ‘Artist to Watch’ by both Vibe Magazine and Rolling Stone. I had the pleasure of witnessing Laura’s live performance a few nights ago and I can honestly say she earned both of those titles.
Born to a working class family in Dublin, Ireland, Izibor admits she didn’t grow up in a musical household. “My mother raised five kids on her own, so there wasn’t much time to buy records – it wasn’t that kind of home. I found myself fancying music at about 13.” Once the love for musicians like Stevie Wonder, Candi Stanton, and Roberta Flack took hold, she was smitten for good. “One door opened to the next – first I discovered Marvin Gaye, and then Otis Redding, and I just fell in love with soul music.” Full Bio (word file)
The 20 year old musical sensation is set to drop her first cd April 28th entitled, Let The Truth Be Told. Check out her first single, “From My Heart to Yours” as well as a live performance of “Don’t Stay” below:
