Last week, I had the distinct honor of being invited to speak to the youth of Sugga’s Industries International, Behind The Scenes in Sports & Entertainment after-school program.
Held at Atlanta’s Turner Middle School, the program provides training to high school students in an effort to assist the sports and entertainment industry in diversifying its audience and talent pool.
Anyone who knows me is quite aware that I’m not a “public” speaking type of girl, so it was initially uncomfortable but because I was talking about something I love to do, the information flowed freely.
We discussed blogging, advertising, event coverage, video editing… just about everything that entails StraightFromTheA.com. Including social networking via Twitter, Facebook, etc…. we even touched on a bit of industry gossip (and you will be pleased to note, I kept it strictly P.G.).
[Sidebar: I almost fainted when told the others that Phaedra was my lawyer and I was at her wedding… you people really do pay attention, huh? 😆 ]
I’d like to take a moment to thank Tiphanie Watson and Suggas for inviting me out to speak to the kids. Hopefully, I shared some insightful information about this crazy world of entertainment blogging.

Rocking Gucci (or Fendi) shades, with her black turtuleneck and pigtails, this chick could pass for a Mary J. Blige wannabe, but in all actuality she’s actually a wee bit older than the R&B singer.
The photo above was reportedly taken in the early 90’s when she was in her late twenties and working in radio.? She’s Known for her “wiggy” ways, a “larger than life” personality, and a talk show where she spills all the tea.
Can you guess the identity of this cute lil ponytailed fashionista? Continue Reading…
Facebook can be used for many things… from connecting with former classmates to stalking creditors, but whooda thought it could help put a halt to an armed robbery in progress?
When three hooded robbers invaded the home of a University of Georgia student last week, he hit up Facebook in a desperate plea for help, and luckily someone heard his cry and took him seriously!

Chris Brown has issued an apology (of sorts) following this week?s ?Good Morning America? debacle, saying he was disappointed in the way he reacted during his off-air outburst and wants to move on.
Brown appeared on Wednesday?s ?106 & Park,? where he addressed the blowout surrounding his much-talked-about interview with Robin Roberts that ended backstage in a violent rage.
Chris admits that he contained his anger onstage and competed his performance but says he was merely “blowing off steam” and wanted to release all the “anger that was inside of him.” He points out that he didn’t hurt anyone in the GMA incident [sidebar: unlike how Rihanna’s face ended up] *sigh*

That he doesn’t card his hoes…
As you know, former NY Giants linebacker and Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor was wrapped up in scandal after he was busted with an under aged prostitute back in May 2010.
READ: Mugshot Mania: Lawrence “LT” Taylor Arrested
Taylor, 52, was originally charged with 3rd degree rape but avoided jail time by pleading guilty in January to lesser charges of sexual misconduct and patronizing a 16-year-old prostitute. Both counts are misdemeanors.
Taylor was sentenced yesterday (March 23) to six years’ probation on charges stemming from the incident, and he makes absolutely NO apologies for utilizing the services of a prostitute, especially since he didn’t know she was underage.
Speaking on Fox News’ “Studio B with Shepard Smith,” Taylor said he had asked the prostitute her age, and was told she was 19. He said he doesn’t bother to card ’em tough…
“That’s not my M.O. I’ve been around kids and people all my life.
I’m not the cause of prostitution. And sometimes I make mistakes and I may go out there. And I didn’t go pick her up on no playground. She wasn’t hiding behind the school bus or getting off a school bus. This is a working girl that came to my room.”
*blank muthaf*ckin’ stare* 😯 And that’s not even all he said!
