El DeBarge (born Eldra Patrick DeBarge), former lead singer of the family singing group DeBarge who had mild success as a solo act, was sentenced Wednesday (October 28th) to serve 2 years on a cocaine possession charge.  The Los Angeles Judge had little sympathy for the 47 year old former star, who was still on probation for a 2001 cocaine bust, not to mention a series of warrants over the past year for domestic violence, vandalism and drugs, and gave his the stiffest penalty possible.

According to the district attorney’s office, DeBarge also has a second case pending, for violating his probation in 2006 with another drug bust. A hearing in that matter is set for November 10th. DeBarge was picked up by authorities over the weekend on outstanding warrants.

Too bad…so sad.  I guess good hair can go wrong as is evident in El’s mugshot photo.  There is a 2nd undated mugshot under the cut showing El with short hair and a wide-eyed blank stare.  A look that he’ll also be giving his future husband cell-mate.  SMH…He’s way to pretty for prison.

Cobb County got another one! Atlanta transplant Lyfe Jennings aka Chester J. Jennings, 35, was arrested Sunday night in Marietta, Georgia after leading officers on a high speed car chase. Officers, originally responding to reports of gunshots in the area, observed Jennings’ red 2005 Chevy Corvette jetting the scene and gave chase, which led to him crashing the vehicle.

At the conclusion of their investigation officers, arrested and charged Mr. Jennings with Criminal Trespass, Discharging a Firearm Near a Public Highway, DUI-Refusal, all misdemeanors.  Mr. Jennings was also charged with Attempting to Elude and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, both felonies.

Mr. Jennings was lodged at the Smyrna City Jail where he was later transferred to the Cobb County Detention Facility. suspect vehicle leaving the area.  The vehicle was a red 2005 Chevrolet corvette, later determined to be registered to Chester J. Jennings, of Marietta, GA.

I’m not clear on whether the crash or the officers caused the scars on Lyfe’s face, but since Jennings is a convicted felon he may NEVER get out of that mutha! I keep telling y’all transplants not to f*ck around in CC…but you won’t listen!

**UPDATE** Looks like Baby Momma Drama caused Lyfe’s disruptive behavior.  Jennings, kicked in the door of a residence on Springwoods Drive in Smyrna belonging to his children’s mother, Joy Pound, according to an arrest warrant. He fired the gun in the street and later tried to run from the Smyrna police when they arrived, police said.   Jennings is a convicted felon who served 10 years in prison from 1992-2002 on a felony charge when he was 14. ~ Via AJC

Check out O.J.’s newest mugshot taken just days ago following his October 2008 conviction on armed robbery and kidnapping charges in a Las Vegas district court. Simpson, 61, was immediately taken into custody at the Clark County Detention Center after the jury verdict was read. Sentencing is scheduled for December 5, 2008 and O.J. is facing a MINIMUM of five years behind bars.  Karma is a muthaf*$cker!!

We all have our burdens to bear, but O.J.’s life seems to be a testament to what can happen when you do wrong.  It’s possible that O.J. could end up spending the rest of his life in a Nevada state prison. Beating the system is one thing…but how far can you possibly go without fear of retribution?

I’m not one to speak on the inaccuracies of our justice system because I for one HATE seeing our Black men locked up over BS.  Hell…I’m still pissed over Michael Vick!  O.J. dodged a major bullet once and could have very well lived a quiet life of seclusion with his new white woman of choice…but what did he do?  Went out and acted a fool every chance he got.  On that note…I’ll cosign with Chris Rock’s assessment of the Simpson murder trial.  “I’m not sayin it’s right…but I understand!”

Evangelist Juanita Bynum’s ex-hubby, Bishop Thomas Weeks, III, is single again and back on the prowl!  I know all you single men women out there can’t wait to grab up this one.  Well, now’s your chance! Weeks is next up on the d-list celebrity circus known as the reality dating show.

Weeks will document his effort to open his heart to love again in 10 streaming video “Webisodes” starting next Tuesday on his Web site www.bishopweeks.com. The idea came after Weeks was flooded with thousands of e-mails and letters from people offering advice about what to look for in his third wife. Some even offered to be his wife.

“There are some very adamant women,” says Weeks’ associate, Minister Guy Reeves of Global Destiny. “A lady from Belgium flew all the way here to meet him. She came to the campus. She wanted to be the next Mrs. Weeks like many others who have approached me about their strong desire to be Bishop Weeks’ wife.” (Source)

*Sigh*  Yes…you read right!  Rapper DMX lost it during his hearing in a Miami-Dade County courtroom Tuesday morning after learning he would spend another month in jail.

“I ain’t going back to no fc*king jail,” said DMX (aka Earl Simmons). “Oh, well that just ingratiated you to me,” said Judge Lawrence Schwartz. “I’ve never heard the F-word before, so it’s OK.”  The judge then warned Simmons’ lawyer that the rapper had better not curse in his courtroom again.

The mugshot above is from Simmons’ most recent arrest at a Miami-Dade County Wal-Mart earlier this month after failing to appear at a court hearing in Arizona.  He was also arrested in June for not having a valid driver’s license.   Check out the courtroom video under the cut: (more…)

Da Brat aka Shawntae Harris started her 3 year bid the other day in Dekalb county jail for felony aggravated assault for hitting Studio 72 employee Shayla Smith with a rum bottle.  I can honestly say that Shawntae is on some other ish right now.  Dude Chick’s going to jail for acting stupid and is still playing games!  SMH!  I guess jail will be just another vacation spot.  Enjoy it while it lasts Brat!

There may be some hope for Lil Scrappy’s case in Dekalb County…or not.  Kid Rock has just been sentenced regarding his Waffle House antics in Atlanta last year.  You should probably keep your fingers crossed for Scrappy, however Kid Rock’s legal battles in the “A” just ended with a slap on the wrist: (more…)

It took over 2 years, but they finally got em!  Two brothers have been arrested and charged with the 2006 murder of T.I.’s close friend.  Hosea Thomas, 34, (Left), and Padron Thomas, 40, (Right), have been charged with murder and felonious assault for the death of T.I.’s assistant and childhood friend, Philant Johnson, 26, and the wounding of three others in the entourage. 

The Thomas brothers were patrons at the rapper’s after-hours party at Club Ritz in Cincinnati, Ohio and were disgruntled after being denied access to the Club’s VIP area. At some point
