Janelle Monae graces the cover of the October/November 2013 issue of Uptown Magazine.
In the issue, which hits stands next week, Monae speaks about being signed to Bad Boy/Atlantic and how label head Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, who was once her biggest cheerleader, is now her ‘professional slapper’.
He is the ambassador and protector of the jam. He makes sure that our ideas get out into the world. He is not involved creatively.
He is the spokesperson for corporations when it’s time to talk business. When we don’t want to have conversations with suits, he goes in and slaps people for us. He is our highest professional slapper. He slaps anyone that tries to mess up the jam.
Monae also talks about why she thinks some people just don’t ‘get’ her and how she feels a social responsibility to speak out through her music.

First Lady Michelle Obama covers the April 2013 edition of Vogue.
It’s the second time the first lady’s photo has graced the front of the fashion bible, the first was back in March, 2009.
Photographer Annie Leibovitz shot the newest cover of Obama, who wore a blue and purple Reed Krakoff sheath taken straight from her very own closet. The green background, the cool color palette and the choice to wear Reed Krakoff is also reminiscent of the FLOTUS’ brand new official portrait.

Actress Meagan Good rocks a short doo for the Jan/Feb 2012 cover of Hype Hair Magazine.
Good is also featured in the mag as their “Breakout Style Star of the Year” [insert side-eye here]
Meagan Good has truly impressed us all with her continuous beautiful looks, which is why Hype Hair has given her the title of their “Breakout Style Star of the Year.”
Ms. Good sat down with the ladies of HH to chat about her new acting roles on Think Like A Man! and “Californication,” her essential beauty and hair products and her secrets to maintaining her stunning ‘dos.
I don’t have anything against Meagan, but “Breakout” star? Ummm yeah. Their first choice must have been traveling for the holidays.
On another note, you may recall that leaked “nude photo” of the actress circulating the net a few months back… well it has recently resurfaced again.
I’m sorry to burst y’all’s naked Meagan bubbles, but I’d like to reiterate that the photo in question (which you can view HERE) is definitely a fake.

The old-school/new-school duo, who have each publicly proclaimed their love for all things green, joined forces on a new film project called “Mac and Devin Go to High School.”
The popular smokers will release the soundtrack to the upcoming film and also plan to hit the road for a brief tour starting next month.
The collaborative album, which features the Bruno Mars-assisted single, “Young, Wild & Free,” will arrive on December 13. The Smeezingtons production is the first offering from the companion soundtrack to the “buddy film.” The video for “Young, Wild & Free” was shot in Los Angeles and helmed by the film’s director, Dylan Brown.
Hip-hop’s Cheech and Chong will also team up for a joint “High School Tour,” performing cuts off the soundtrack at intimate venus across the country. The 6-date trek kicks off December 5 at New York’s Terminal 5 and wraps a week later in Los Angeles.

covers the October/November 2011 issue of VIBE magazine where he pays homage to the legendary rocker Jimi Hendrix.
The 28 year old megastar captures Hendrix’s style game to the tee… from the badass black hat; a “Purple Haze” era Technicolor military jacket; black leather pants; and Jimi’s signature orange, black and white Fender Stratocaster.
“Jimi’s just one of my favorite artists,” says Wayne, who a few years ago decided to pick up the guitar himself. “Everything Jimi stood for, I believe in.”
As you know, Jay-Z was recently crowned “KING” by GQ, but Weezy would be quick to beg to differ!
