Tyler Perry (pictured above with date, actress Gelila Bekele) kicked off the grand opening of his 200,000 sq. foot/30 acre Tyler Perry Studios facility in southwest Atlanta Saturday night. The formal affair attracted thousands of who’s who as local celebs rubbed elbows with worldwide stars.
Hollywood legends Sidney Poitier, Cicely Tyson, Ruby Dee and Louis Gossett Jr. gathered with Oprah Winfrey, Hank and Billye Aaron, Andrew and Carolyn Young, Will Smith, Barry Bonds and others to celebrate the first major television and movie studio owned and run by an African-American film producer.
Oscar winner Sidney Poiter christened the studio’s opening as several members of the writer’s guild picketed outside.
I saw this trailer the other day when I went to see The Family That Preys. Preys was a great movie and I hate to admit it but I cried. Yes…me. Anyway, TP has given up the afro wig and traded it back for Madea’s golden locks. Y’all know you miss Madea! No matter what you say about it, you’re going to see it anyway. So stop complaining and just give Tyler all your money…
Tyler Perry hit up the Conan O’Brian show the other night and discussed being homeless, the bootlegging problem and more. Tyler revealed that he recently bought Oprah a car because she was so instrumental in his life and also discussed why it’s hard for him to get a date these days.
Tyler Perry hit up Good Morning America and discussed his anticipated film, “The Family That Preys.” He also talks about his 39th birthday that’s coming up next week. Well….in case I forget ‘Happy Birthday Tyler!!!” The film features Alfie Woodard, Sanaa Lathan, Kathy Bates and more. LA Reid hosted a “Summer of Love” bash at his Hamptons home yesterday. Ciara was there looking summer fresh and a ton of other celebs breezed through for ribs and hot dogs. Spotted at the bash were Tyler Perry, Oprah’s BFF Gayle King, LL Cool J, Mary J. Blige and more. Paris Hilton’s mom & dad were even chillin at the “Q”. I wonder who brought the ice?
