Big Boi and his son Cross sat down for a few seconds after Easter to let all y’all know the album is finally finished. He’s been working on his “Sir Lucious Leftfoot: The Son of Chico Dusty” masterpiece for almost two years now, has recorded over 100 songs, but chose the best for his new solo effort.  He also announces he’s finally on twitter even though he hasn’t quite got the hang of it yet.

Nearly a year after Big Boi tore up the Fox with his collaboration on the hip-hop ballet Big, his partner in crime André Benjamin aka Andre 3000 will be hitting the stage in a newly adapted stage version of his Emmy award-winning “Class of 3000″ cartoon series. The show originally aired on The Cartoon Network but they ceased production on the animated comedy after only 26 episodes. Now the Alliance Children’s Theatre will present the world premiere stage adaptation beginning this Friday (March 6th). In case you didn’t know, Dre is the show’s creator, executive producer and starred in the toon as the inspirational music teacher Sunny Bridges.  He also created a new song for every episode (five of which will appear in the stage play). When asked if it was difficult writing music for a younger audience, the ATL legend responded:

I wasn’t trying to water down the music aspect of the show just because it was for kids. You watch old “Peanuts” or “Fat Albert” shows, they weren’t necessarily kids’ songs. On “Peanuts,” you’re listening to jazz by Vince Guaraldi. I want to make sure that kids had something to listen to that wasn’t teeny bopper songs — although we would do those, too, if they fit into the story. I wanted to give them a little jazz, ragtime, blues, funk music, with the hope that if kids heard those kinds of music later, they’d say, “Hey, I remember this kind of song!” I thought that was fitting, since I play a music teacher. I also wanted to show how different kinds of songs, like classical music, could be reinterpreted in new ways, which is what I like to do with my other kinds of music. MORE

The music definitely isn’t watered down! It’s smooth, comfy and feels like home. Between this play and Big Boi’s Big with the Atlanta Ballet, these two dudes are dayum near unstopable! I can’t wait to see what Dre comes up with onstage! (Anyone got a kid they could loan me next week )

My favorite ATLien, Antwan “Big Boi” Patton was spotted in the studio with B.o.B. recently. B.o.B is mad talented and his flow is sick! Can’t wait to hear what they came up with that day.  Also, I dunno if y’all heard or not, but Ludacris and Big Boi’s Inaugural Ball never took place.  The Urban Ball as well as several others were cancelled due to poor ticket sales. I guess there were way too may balls to choose from.  Anywhoo…Sir Lucious Leftfoot: The Son of Chico Dusty is gonna be fire and I CAN”T WAIT! Hurry up dammit!!!

Antwan “Big Boi” Patton hit up Chelsea Lately recently and discussed his recent stint on NBC’s Law & Order as well as his upcoming CD, Sir Lucious Leftfoot: The Son of Chico Dusty. Big Boi explained the title, saying that “Chico Dusty” was his late father’s nickname, who was an air force pilot in the military.  Chelsea flashed her B-cups and dropped her usual flirtatious questions. She is such a hoochie groupie…Fo Sho! Love her…

Chase Tatum was found dead 6 days ago of an accidental drug overdose.  Tatum, pictured above in a promo pic from the film Who’s Your Caddy along with Faizon Love, Big Boi and Finesse Mitchell, formerly worked as a road manager and personal assistant for OutKast.  Tatum was also well known as a professional wrestler, which apparently is where he developed the back problems which lead to his addiction to pain-killers.  Tatum was 34.

Chase Tatum had been recovering from back surgery to repair a degenerative disc. His father said the former wrestler had been fighting a dependence to painkillers for years but had been planning to enter a rehabilitation center. 

“He was in the process of getting his life back together,” Roy Tatum said Monday. “He was confident he was going to turn things around, to live a normal life again without those painkillers.”  (Source)

I get a tingling sensation everytime I see Big Boi (peep my header)…but I couldn’t drive straight when I heard this new song on the radio yesterday!  Big Boi and Dre reunite (along with Raekwon) for “Royal Flush,” which is the first single from Big Boi’s upcoming solo joint.  This song is soooo hott!  This ish rite hurr…this ish rite hurr…is what we’ve been missing!

I just got this in my inbox and I thought…”OK…I’ll bite!” This is a cute little spoof of Outkast’s Happy Valentine’s Day Song. They really put a lot of work into this video! Dude is like a cross between late 80’s Big Boi and Late 90’s Andre 3000…
