The Real Housewives of Atlanta aired the 4th episode of it’s 9th season last night (November 27, 2016).
[FLASHBACK: #RHOA Recap, Season 9, Episode 3 + Watch Full Video… ]
This week’s episode is appropriately titled, ‘Another Spin Around the Block’ as we are once again introduced to Kandi’s baby daddy drama, Russell ‘Block’ Spencer. Bravo synopsis:
Phaedra focuses on uniting the group for a worthy cause, but charity takes a backseat when Kenya and Shereé go at it once again. Meanwhile, Cynthia’s daughter makes her modeling debut. Bob finally takes Shereé out on a romantic date, and Kandi is taken aback by an unexpected phone call that sends her into an emotional tailspin.
Recap + full video below…
Cynthia is away from all the drama this week as she hosts a launch party for her Cargo line in LA. The supermodel enlists her daughter Noelle as the face of the new line and her baby daddy Leon joins them at the event to show support.
Later, Leon and Cynthia enjoy a romantic dinner together (after Noelle ditches them to attend a concert) and it seems there’s still a bit of chemistry between the two former flames as Bailey reveals she’s decided to end her marriage to Peter.
Leon confesses that he feels the relationship was rushed and that he only wants to see Cynthia happy. It seems Leon might be there to pick of the pieces of Cynthia’s broken heart.
On the clock: Sheree’s family matters…
[Sidebar: While we all know that’s not true, let’s play along for the sake of the story line….]
Sheree’s kids will both be leaving the nest soon but she’s hopeful that her family legacy will be complete in time for at least Kaleigh to move in since Kairo stated he’s getting his own apartment.
Meanwhile, Sheree and her ex-husband share a romantic dinner at a local vegan spot as they cater to their new ‘on the clock’ relationship (Kaleigh’s words not mine).
Yet another episode has come and gone where we’re subjected to more squawking between Sheree´ and Kenya. It seems it just won’t end!
The ladies all gather for a group activity of Laser tag planned by Phaedra Parks, who wants to pitch her latest charitable excursion. Everyone is on board with Phaedra’s pitch for a pop-up shop and seem to be getting along perfectly as they released all of their animosity during the laser games. But while Phaedra played the perfect host, she couldn’t prevent Sheree´& Kenya from bumping heads yet again.
At this point, I don’t even know what they’re arguing about anymore.
Perhaps Sheree is merely earning her keep by keeping the animosity on a hundred, but her antics are growing about as old and tired as those ‘Mama Joyce wigs’ Sheree’ keeps wearing (Kenya’s words not mine!).
Several low blows are thrown that manages to hit a few bystanders. For the record, Kandi almost knocks Kenya out when her mom’s name is brought into the beef, but she was too busy eating a burrito.
Phaedra finally manages to reign in the two ladies and the group gathering ends rather peacefully.
Lawd knows Kandi had to bring the drama now that she’s the middle peach holder and that’s just what she’s trying to do by bring her baby daddy, Russell ‘Block’ Spencer, on the show!
During episode 4, Mama Joyce reveals that Block has never paid any child support and owes Kandi at least $50,000 in back payments. When Kandi states Block wants a relationship with their 13 year old daughter, Mama Joyce feels he should bring a $50,000 check with him when he visits.
Kandi states that it has never been about the child support because as we all know, she’s got enough money to care for her own child, but she’s saddened that Block was never present in Riley’s life.
FYI… I tweeted about the situation last week and oddly enough… Kandi chose to respond last night…
For the record, Kandi states that Block was never married but that’s not what his ex-wife says.
I think that’s really a moot point anyway because what I was trying to convey is that Block wasn’t involved in Kandi’s daughter’s life because he had an entire household that included a wife and 4 kids.
[Sidebar: By no means am I making excuses for Kandi’s baby daddy, but the story varies depending on who you ask. I’ve actually spoken to both Kandi and the ex (both called me last night) and there’s a lot of bad blood between them. There are some things between them that may NEVER be resolved. But I digress.]
So not only does Riley have an absentee father, she’s also got quite a few siblings she needs to get to know.
Meanwhile back to the made for TV drama…
Block conveniently calls Kandi as she’s riding with Mama Joyce to inquire about Riley and making up for lost time. It seems a lot of the call was edited out, especially since Mama Joyce managed to remain silent throughout most of the conversation.
The episode ends with Kandi getting upset when Block says he’s tried to reach out to both her and Riley but neither will respond to his calls or texts but he still wants to ‘co-parent’ starting… now!
It’s never too late to do the right thing, right?
It’ll be interesting to see how this all turns out. Let’s just how it ends on a positive note for all the kids’ sake.
