The highly anticipated premiere episode of ‘Atlanta‘ aired on F/X last night (September 6, 2016) and I love it already!
It’s certainly no secret that Atlanta is the place to be and now there’s a scripted television show based around the city we all love. The comedy, created by Donald Glover and co-starring Brian Tyree Henry, Zazie Beetz and Lakeith Stanfield, has received rave reviews and it’s definitely ‘must see’ tv this fall season.
Atlanta is one of the top cities for young rappers looking to make a name for themselves in the business. Among those up-and-comers is Alfred Miles, a hot new artist who is trying to understand the line between real life and street life. He is managed by his cousin, Earn, who gets caught up in the local rap scene and his cousin’s career after returning home to the ATL.

Atlanta revolves around two cousins on their way up through the Atlanta rap scene whose opposing views on art versus commerce, success and race will make their quest anything but easy. Donald Glover plays “Earnest ‘Earn’ Marks,” a loner who left Atlanta only to return; now working an unglamorous job and barely getting by. When his cousin Alfred becomes Atlanta’s hot rapper, Earn sees an opportunity to manage Alfred’s career. Brian Tyree Henry plays “Alfred Miles,” Atlanta’s hot of the moment rapper who plans to capitalize on the sudden fame as quickly as possible. Lakeith Lee Stanfield plays “Darius,” Alfred’s oddly talented right-hand man and musical collaborator. Zazie Beetz plays “Van,” a pragmatist caught up in a complicated relationship with Earn (Donald Glover) due to their daughter.
