Dré appeared on ‘Late Night w/David Letterman’ last night were he discussed his starring role in the Jimi Hendrix biopic All Is By My Side which hit theaters last Friday.
It was just a week ago that Dre was onstage in his hometown rocking a slew of hits during Outkast’s ‘ATLast’ concert (click HERE if you missed that) and in his interview with Letterman, Dre reiterates how he feels a parallel with the later rocker, but admits he didn’t learn of Hendrix until his late teens.
“Before as a Black kid, I grew up on rap and all that kind of stuff,” he explained.
“So, Hendrix was just like an image. Like this wild, big-haired image.”
Andre also reveals how he researched and studied as many details as possible about Hendrix, and recounts to Letterman stories of the rocker’s interactions with Eric Clapton, the Beatles and more.
