Actress Bern Nadette Stanis and Vivica A. Fox were recently honored by the City of Detroit as their new play, ‘Danger at My Door’ opened at the Detroit Opera House earlier this week.

The play is a story of love, friendship and lies, centered on the story of two women who have been friends since High School.

Vivica recently celebrated her 50th birthday this year while Stanis (best known for her role as ‘Thelma’ from Good Times) turns 60 in December.

Vivica A. Fox portrays a detective in the play.

“I’m really excited to be in the play, we have an excellent cast … and a wonderful play that we are going to present,” said Fox.

Stanis, who is remembered as Thelma on the sitcom “Good Times” plays a woman trying to keep her adopted children on the right path.

Other actors include Earnest Pugh, Jacky Clark-Chisholm, Chanel and Karl Reid. Reginald Ballard, known for his role on the sitcom “Martin,” also has a role in the play.

“I play Snookie …I’m the danger at the door so they have a week to pay my money or everybody in the house going to die. So you are going to see me in something you’ve never seen me in before,” said Ballard.
