Johnson, the ex-wife of superstar Cee-Lo Green (Goodie Mob) has captured the hearts of millions of viewers in the VH1’s newest reality show and has been dubbed ‘the peacemaker’ after working hard to increase the peace amongst her fellow ‘Exes,’ which include Tameka Raymond (Usher), Torrei Hart (Kevin Hart), Sheree Buchanan (Ray Buchanan) and Monyetta Shaw (Ne-Yo).
I had an opportunity to sit down with Johnson during the Atlanta premiere party for the show (VIEW PHOTOS) and I found Christina to be just as pleasant as she comes across on the show.
Details + video of my one on one interview with Christina Johnson below…
Shoutout to Chris Mitchell (CME3000) for the videography!
I’ve been dealing with Graves Disease for 5 years. I felt like it was something I could bring light to, as well as domestic violence. So that was my number one reason.
It’s also a springboard for businesses (I have 3). I’m an interior designer. I’ve been doing that for 12 years. Ludacris has been my client for 10.
As well as Butterfly Effects. Me and my best friend Toni Acey, whose a celebrity make-up artist, started 2 years ago. So we’ll be launching lipsticks, lipgloss and lip tattoos, which you’ll see me wearing on the show.
Womanocity. com is a new website I’m doing with Andrea Kelly (R. Kelly’s ex-wife). That is a website where you can go and create relationships with other women who have gone through similar battles.
Christina on the criticism that comes from reality television…
I know it will come… I just have to be supportive to my family. Ceelo always says ‘family is family’ and it’s true.
We have children together and we are a family. He’s been super supportive.
So, I’m not saying I’m not concerned about people’s opinions but, I just want to be supportive to my family. We support each other… everything he does, I’m supportive and he supports me and the kids.
Christina on what she hopes to get out of the show… as opposed to being known as ‘Ceelo Green’s ex wife’?
I just want to break stereotypes. People think that women can’t get along… especially Black women. I want them to see that you can be strong, strong-minded, opinionated and still have sincere relationships.
I want women to change from watching us be courageous and giving ourselves away…
If I woman walks up to me and says that she changed because of the sacrifices we have made, that’s what this is all about. That’s my gift.
For the record, Christina’s on screen blind date has become her real life love. I’m sure we’ll see the relationship develop on the show, but judging from her instagram, the cute couple has been going strong even after the cameras stopped rolling!
Awww… isn’t love beautiful!
Major props to Christina Johnson for the interview. I look forward to seeing more of you on the show. 🙂
As I stated in my #AtlantaExes recap earlier this week,
Johnson emits so much positive energy and it’s refreshing to see an ‘ex’ who appears to be a great influence on the group as a whole.
What did you think of Christina Johnson’s statements?
