DJ Nabs and Lil Jon, two notable legends in hip-hop history, were honored last night in Atlanta (May 21, 2014).

The ‘Respect the DJ’ event was held yesterday evening at Opera Nightclub in Atlanta and a huge mix of The A’s top DJs showed up and showed out.

In addition to honorees Lil Jon & DJ Nabs, attendees included DJ Jelly, DJ Swiff, DJ Sense, DJ Montay, Shawty Putt, Fort Knox, Ronnie Devoe (BBD), Kawan ‘KP’ Prather (A&R @ Atlantic Records) and more.

Hosted by DJ Mami Chula, ‘Respect the DJ’ showcased a coveted turntable battle where DJs of various genres hashed out for bragging rights – from Hip Hop to EDM and Top 40. Battling DJs included DJ Logic, DJ Don Julio, DJ Time One and DJ Teeoh.

The event, sponsored by Mona Scott-Young’s ‘MYX Fusions,’ was packed with turntable enthusiasts who networked and celebrated with each other.  Special guests and judges included DJ Jelly, Speaker Foxxx, Heros x Villains, Jus Clae, Hapa Scratch Academy and Kawan ‘KP’ Prather (A&R @ Atlantic Records).

The artist showcase featured Babi Mac, Sisse Marie and Go Dreamer.

Award winners were DJ Montay, DJ Baby Yu, DJ Mike Mogill as well as special honorees – Lil Jon and DJ Nab
