Hubbard, the family friend who piloted a personal watercraft in the July 2012 boating accident was found GUILTY of several charges related to the accident and he now faces several years of jail time.
Hubbard appeared in a Hall County court yesterday, where his defense argued that he tried to avoid the children, saying the incident was a tragic accident..
Kile Glover was seriously injured on July 6, 2012, while he was vacationing with his father & friends on Lake Lanier.
Kile and a friend were floating on an inner tube when Hubbard lost control of the jet ski he was driving and ran into them. The friend suffered cuts on her head and a broken arm, while Kile suffered serious head injuries and was pulled unconscious from the water.
The accident left Kile brain dead and he never regained consciousness. He passed away a little over two weeks after the unfortunate crash.
The prosecution presented evidence of alcohol use and argued that the accident may have been preventable.
A jury came to a verdict of ‘guilty’ of homicide by vessel.
“At the end of the day, I know he didn’t do it on purpose,” Tameka Raymond told WSBtv.
Hubbard was also found guilty of serious injury by vessel, reckless operation, unlawful operation of personal watercraft and a boat traffic violation. He will be sentenced on March 5, 2014.
On a lighter note, Tameka Raymond has continued to honor her son’s legacy through her ‘Kile’s World’ Foundation, which she formed to expose children to the fine arts.
