Tally, a huge fashion icon himself, was appalled that Simmons was front and center at NYFW after that whole Harriet Tubman “Sex Tape” controversy a few weeks ago (click HERE
to be insulted again refresh your memory).
Many felt that Simmons was totally out of line and Andre Leon Talley is one of them.
When addressing racism in the fashion industry with The Grio’s Chris Whiterspoon, Tally brought up that no only did the Simmons actions offend him, but he felt disrespected to even SEE Simmons on the front row at fashion week.
Never one to back down from a unilateral celebrity such as Talley, Russell took to black twitter to plead his case. But his ‘apology’ fell on deaf ears when Simmons flipped the script to tell Tally that he was more of a ‘Gay Rights’ advocate than even the most fashionable Gay man in the world.

VIDEO: Andre Leon Talley Slams Russell Simmons
I don’t think Russell Simmons should be seated on anybody’s front row this week after having done that disgusting Harriet Tubman sex tape.
He is a man of great achievement. He is a great philanthropist….why would he think it would be an honorable thing to do? He said he thought it was funny. That is not funny it is outrageously disrespectful to the legacy and history of Harriet Tubman and to the struggle.
Simmon’s twitter ‘apology’…

VIDEO: Andre Leon Talley Discusses Racism in The Fashion Industry
Personally I side with Andre (not that anyone gives a flying flip flop what I think regarding these battling queens), but you gotta love it when celebrities go at each other on twitter as if a phone isn’t available….
What do you think of Simmons response to Andre Leon Talley’s statements?
