The City of Atlanta has officially transition from the great ‘music boom’ of the 90’s to the ‘reality show mecca’ of the new millennium and as evidence of this known fact, ‘Househusband’ Peter Thomas of The Real Housewives of Atlanta has created a new awards show.
Peter invited a few reality stars and several media outlets to his Bar One Restaurant and Lounge last night (April 1, 2013) to make the special announcement.
Thomas, along with Love & Hip Hop Atlanta’s Benzino and David Mays (the founders and creators of ‘How Can I Be Down’ Music Conference, The Source Magazine, The Source Awards and Hip Hop Weekly), have teamed up to produce the first ever “UnScripted Reality Awards.”
The UnScripted Reality Awards will honor individuals who star in the plethora of reality shows that entertain and intrigue us.
There is an award show that acknowledges and honors the incredible talent and overwhelming influence of Reality TV Stars. Just as the film community has the Oscars, the music community has the Grammys, and the television community has the Emmys, this award show will bring focus to the genre that is steadily making a huge mark on popular culture.
In addition to Peter and his supermodel ‘housewife’ Cynthia Bailey, several reality show stars came out hoping to score brownie points for an award in support of the new venture, including cast members from Love & Hip Hop Atlanta, The Kandi Factory, Married to Medicine, R&B Divas, Basketball Wives, Big Rich Atlanta and more.

Major props to The Peter Thomas Entertainment Group (PTEG) for taking on this major venture and what better place to host a “reality show” awards show than in the city where just about ALLLLLL of them are taped?
That being said… The first annual “UnScripted Reality Show Awards” is scheduled to take place at Atlanta’s Woodruff Arts Center on September 4, 2013.
I have no idea what type of categories will be involved in the distribution of the awards but I have a few “reality” nominees of my own for 2013:
“Best fight scene”: Toya & Mariah (Married to Medicine)
Most ratchet: Tie – Mama Dee & Joseline Hernandez (Love & Hip Hop)

most fights in one season- Bad Girls Club. They are unscripted reality show. The reunion is a no holds bar. I can even watch that show but my friend is always giving me a play by play. LOL…I agree with you about Quad. I have never seen a hairline like Quad’s in my life. I can’t do anything but stare at all that open space on the top of her head when she’s on camera.
I have a high forehead but I wear bangs. I don’t try to kid myself that I look good with my hair off my forehead because I don’t. I would love to wear my hair back especially in the summer but it looks weird, nowhere as bad as Quad’s, but it’s not a good look on me. Some ladies really need to take a reality check and not wear what is in fashion but what looks best on you. If she thinks her hairstyle looks good on her she is sadly mistaken.
I also agree Peter is doing too much. Reality TV is popular just like McDonald’s smoothies or Haagen Daz ice cream, but you don’t see that on an award show with most valued customer and all that. C’mon now. Award shows are set up for individuals who worked hard on their "craft" to be recognized. Reality TV is lucky it makes money let alone has an award show. Best award for acting a fool? Basketball wives is ratchet, all of the other housewives shows no matter which city, gossip girls, and all the thirsty for fame individuals who flock to L A to get on. And not to forget lhh New York, they just as ratchet up there too. Somehow people are always trying to take pot shots at Atlanta like their city is any better. This city is fabulous and not just for reality shows. From its rich history, to its progressive black population, to its fortune 500 companies, and it now being the Hollywood of the south with tons of movies being shot here. Atlanta isn’t all about the negative. I love my city.
