Philadelphia QB Michael Vick tweeted a few days ago that he was looking forward to returning to Atlanta to sign copies of his new book, “Michael Vick: Finally Free,”:
The stellar athlete was originally scheduled to make an appearance at an Atlanta area Barnes and Noble bookstore next weekend, but after multiple threats of violence, his appearance has been canceled!

Vick has paid his debt to society after serving a 18 month federal prison sentence stemming from his involvement in a dog fighting ring. He’s successfully resumed his football career but since adding a new pet to his family, there are some idiots out there who feel the need to threaten his life.

Vick was set to sign copies of his new book, “Michael Vick: Finally Free” at Barnes and Noble locations in Atlanta, New Jersey and Pennsylvania but the retail bookseller has released a statement announcing that all signings have been cancelled due to safety concerns.
“While we stand by Michael Vick’s right to free speech and the retailers’ right to free commerce, we cannot knowingly put anyone in harm’s way, and therefore we must announce the cancellation of Mr. Vick’s book-signing appearances,” said Byron Williamson, president of Worthy Publishing.
“We’ve been assured these threats of violence, which have been reported to the police, are being taken very seriously by local authorities.”
The Atlanta appearance was scheduled for this Saturday, March 16th.
The threats have been reported to police and despite the negativity energy surrounding the incidents, Vick’s fans are still supportive and cheering him on.
On a happier note, Mike’s book is still available for purchase and he & his lovely wife Kijafa (who married July 2012) still appear happy and in love!

It’s sad that there are still disgruntled ‘animal lovers’ out spewing death threats. It seems a dog’s life is worth more than a man’s in some people’s eyes.

I’m not a fan of Michael Vick or what he did; however, he served his time for this. He served more time than folks that have assaulted human beings. Move on PETA crazies!
I’m not a fan of his either but I do believe in second chances. This man has served his time and I’m assuming learned from his mistakes. I’ve heard of people who have dragged puppies and dogs behind cars for the thrill of it and I didn’t hear these folks crying behind that. The people that are making these threats are really the ones that need their heads examined.

I do not agree with death threats that is wrong but I will say I am so happy his book signing is cancelled. Saw the VICK TORY dogs on HLN today so awesome to see these sweet dogs in safe loving homes and not cowering from people anymore. Can’t imagine what a terrifying life they led being beaten, electrocuted and thrown in a ring to fight for their life every day. A lot never made it out and some left with missing ears and theirs face ripped apart as well mental scars of living in complete fear for 24/7. The beast is the man Michael Vick he should have been locked away for good. He has shown no remorse for the pain and death he inflicted on his innocent trusting victims! The very sad part is this man now owns a dog!!!
So you are saying that you have factual evidence that Mike Vick himself tortured all these animals? I’m not negating his part in this crime, nor is he; he served his time and paid restitution what more do you want? If you chose not to attend the book signing that is fine, it’s not going to affect book sales because in all actuality he has many supporters! He deserves a second chance, unless you work for the Almighty you can’t judge him nor deny him the right to redeem himself.

I was just as disappointed as anyone when the dog fighting came to light but that was years ago and he has since paid his dues. More damn dues than the half a dozen athletes I can think of right now that have killed human beings via shootings and DUI accidents. Do you all really think these people hurling death threats at this man are doing in the name of Scooby? I really hate to play the race card….like really, but they hate him because once he went to prison, they were counting on him not to ever set foot on a professional football field again. When he got out of prison and was signed by the Eagles, these people were livid! He added insult to injury when he first played the Falcons and the fans were booing, he pointed to the score board and pointed out the fact that Philly was winning. I think if he came back and played for Atlanta, or if that was even an opportunity, most of the people will still regard him as their "hero." That is of course if he had a good season. Billy Bob with the sixty acres in the middle of nowhere stays killing dogs and he can’t even get a spot on the "save the animals" commercials…..but I will say this, I am a pet parent and while I may not love my pets as much as I love my child, I still love them so the thought of anyone harming innocent turns my damn stomach…while they should leave this man alone, perhaps he shouldn’t have put out the "new edition to the fam" pic with his knew four-legged friend…not as bad as that Kasey Anthony witch saying she wants another baby (vomit in the back of my throat), but to some of these pet fanatics it stings just as much.

What I can’t stand is when people have dogs just to have one as an accessory. Dogs require care and they get sick and have problems just like humans and those vet bills can be very expensive too.
