Fantasia Barrino showed off her hot new figure as she prepared for a flight to Dallas over the weekend.
The former American Idol winner was recently in the news after she demanded an apology from JET Magazine after they chose what Tasia says was a “10 year old photograph” for her featured cover article.

…and while Tasia didn’t receive an “apology” per se, she DID receive a response from the magazine.

Mitzi Miller, JET editor-in-chief, released the following statement on Friday (February 22, 2013), stating:
JET magazine is honored to have Fantasia grace the cover of its March issue. It is unfortunate that Fantasia is displeased with the cover selection, however JET stands by its decision.
As standard editorial practice, JET consulted with Fantasia’s team, but reserves the right to select the image we deem as most appropriate for JET’s brand and reflective of the cover story sentiment. JET continues to root for Fantasia’s success and encourages her fans to pick up the new issue.
The publication also offered an explanation about the images that were sent over by Fantasia’s team that they they didn’t “deem as most appropriate for JET’s brand and reflective of the cover story.”
In one of the newer images chosen by Fantasia’s team, she is photographed rocking a blunt bob haircut and is dressed in shimmery gold attire….
JET explained that the images Fantasia sent over all showed “the singer’s face obstructed and were very ornate – not clean, beauty profile shots as needed for a cover.”

While the images are lovely, I would suspect that JET has a valid point. Fantasia’s face is NOT clearly shown in either photo.

You can’t get no clearer than its their right to choose an image that fits the story. As they see fit.
I don’t think either parties were wrong Jet felt like the photo were obstructing her face so they used another photo I do think that Fantasia’s team could have taken more photos where her face was clearly visible I think all in all it was a communication issues.
I actually prefer the 10 year old picture, it’s more natural looking. She could easily be mistaken for a tranny in the new shots…

I agree with Jet. Too much gawdy confusion in background. Looks like Tasia wanted to exude opulence but photos appeared to be taken in some old Italian bordello. The ‘Bob’ is a definite fail. She looked better at airport than her pic selection.
Her team should have sent in a clear face pic (head shot) for the cover…seems all the pics they submitted were for pics inside of the article…they didn’t do their research or bother to inquire…
She really needs to humble herself and appreciate that Jet was even interested in her for a cover story….imo….she’s not even interesting enough for a mention at all…in any magazine right now…
Now when no one offers her anything …she will remember this incident ….hopefully a lesson has been learned….

If Beyonce or Rihanna team would have sent in the wrong photo they would have called their team. Mitzi(jet editor) and Amy Barnett(Ebony editor) were on twitter saying that she should have been happy to be on any magazine. Really???? Was it too hard to pick up a phone and say we need a new picture?????? Truth be told her personal life has made people feel a certain way about her and her music.

Tasia is right to protect her image. Jet magazine has busted ass covers all the time. They are trading on her popularity to sell magazines. If they didn’t have a picture they wanted to use, it is standard practice to ask for one they could. Fantasia’s publicist is asleep at the wheel.

Most photo shoots for magazines have clean backgrounds so that they can layout the headlines around the celeb featured. None of the pictures she sent would have made been selected. After all the years in the business, someone in her camp should have been aware of this. Guess Fanny doesn’t grace many covers.

Just can’t catch a break huh Fantasia? But see, this is kinda your fault; JET requested a specific kind of photo to be featured, YOU just send the pictures where you feel you look good. Now Fanny, I understand girl, you wanted to look like a diva and rock a cover like Rihanna or Beyonce or some other "it" girl would, cuz you’re tired of everybody picking on you and riding you for your lack of education and/or fashion sense. I agree, and you know what, those pics aren’t half bad. BUT your people need to strike that balance between meeting guidelines and keeping you happy. JET is entitled to their own specific standard of what they feel represents their magazine. YOUR folks should have paid attention to the photo requirements…or…wait..maybe they don’t know what a "clean beauty shot" is….

As someone put it earlier, She’s not Beyonce but I’m sure Beyonce has a say on what pictures certain publications use… Beyonce is on the cover of an up coming Vogue publication so why shouldn’t another star have a say in what goes on with her brand or image.

As a photographer that has shot several covers and have worked with many publications including Jet as well as worked with Fantasia, I gurantee you Jet did everything they could to get an apporpriate photograph. The failure would have been on Fantasia’s team part of providing the appropriate photograph since Jet would have contacted them to let them know that none of the photos were appropriate as a cover shot. Publications have deadlines for printing which are concrete in order to hit newstands on time. As far as the character in question, she probably didn’t show up for the reshoot for an appropriate glamour shot.

The photos are "busy". I would consider them photos to be included inside the magazine but not on the cover. However, the photos do not look as bad as some are claiming them to be.
Damn, Fantasia jumped the gun on this one. Jet reply was classy. Fantasia need to up the bar of professionalism in general, in particular with her people working for her to be professionals.
