This weeks episode, entitled “Praise the Pageant,” focuses on Cynthia Bailey‘s Miss Renaissance Pageant and surprise…surprise! A “kinder, gentler” Miss USA 1993, Kenya Moore, wants to be part of it all.
Cynthia has 2nd thoughts about it but reluctantly allows Kenya to be a judge.
Meanwhile, real-life friends Phaedra Parks and Kandi Burruss have an intimate double date as Chef Roblé prepares some in-home delicacies for the two housewives and their mates, Apollo and Todd.
Kandi reveals her new gospel venture to her friends over dinner and prepares to record her duet with Gospel great Marvin Sapp.

At the studio, Kandi’s previously estranged dad makes a rare appearance and offers his thoughts about Kandi moving closer to her holy roots.
And Porsha Stewart and her husband Kordell have a brief sit down dinner that proves to be a bit uncomfortable to watch.

I know some of y’all felt some kinda way about my comparing Kenya’s cancer scare to Kim Zolciak’s (remember her?)… but it’s obvious that Kenya is out to do some serious damage control while she still has a few episodes left.

Moore volunteering to judge Bailey’s Miss Renaissance pageant was a noble gesture but even Nene Leakes thought Cynthia was crazy for considering it.
Coincidentally the current Miss U.S.A. title holder, Nana Meriweather was also a judge on the panel but since it was the “Kenya” show, she didn’t get much air-time.

I personally think that Cynthia is latching on to Moore just in case Nene exits stage left next season. Think about it… who else would Bailey have to kiss up to besides Kenya, who is clearly eying Leakes’ ‘mean girl’ role??
But I digress…
Nene’s role this week is limited yet again, but during Phaedra and Kandi’s “double date” dinner, we find out that the ladies are planning a girls trip to Vegas to visit their “hollywood” friend.
Like it or not, Kandi’s taking on the world of Gospel! On this episode, we witnessed Marvin Sapp laying down his vocals for Kandi’s new gospel single, “Stay Prayed Up”… and it’s evident that Kandi’s song is going to be a banger!!
Kandi invites her father into the studio to see her transformation from secular to gospel and while he seems impressed, Kandi feels the need to explain why she feels the need to venture into the gospel territory.
Interestingly enough… it’s Pastor Marvin Sapp who tells her that no explanation is necessary and to follow what she feels is right.
We also witnessed the wrath of Kordell yet again.
Just last week we saw Kordell telling Porsha she needed to “check” Cynthia for the way she was handling her, well this week it’s more of the same as we watch Kordell “check” Porsha over and over again.
Is it me? Or does it seem like Porsha is afraid of her own husband?
Porsha meets her husband/father figure for a bit of quality time and upon arriving at the restaurant orders water. Her husband/father figure promptly changes her order to wine.
The conversation between the two is strained as Porsha asks Kordell how she’s doing with her household chores. I zoned out around this time but I recall Kordell pretty much saying he wants Porsha home and not out “working” like everyone else.
These two are a match made in heaven…. *sigh*
Anywhoo… Cynthia’s pageant starts out kinda shaky as her co-host Boris Kodjoe shows up in sneakers and casual attire… clearly a mismatch to Bailey’s ball gown. There were also issues with the script that had both she and Boris announcing the wrong names…. but eventually things turned out well as the first ever Miss Renaissance was finally crowned.

Various thoughts about last night’s episode:
Porsha wants to hold off on kids because she doesn’t want to put her career on hold. No shade, but what career??!!
Porsha will want to be more careful. She picked Jayden up by one arm.
NeNe is just collecting a check and phoning it in this season. She is barely on the show 3 minutes each week. It looks like they are sending the other ladies to her so NeNe will have more screen time in the future.
Reggie Wells is Oprah’s makeup artist (or at least he was) , and I am surprised they didn’t mention his affiliation on the show.
Cynthia needs to give up on events. They waited until 5 minutes before the show to practice. The mics were out….who doesn’t know to do a sound check two or three hours before an event starts? Boris showed up in jeans?! Really?!
How can they rate/judge contestants if they don’t even have the correct names? That pageant was tragic.
That young girl who won the pageant needs to win an Oscar instead. Acting like that…..chile you would have thought that she won half a million dollars. LOL

I, like everyone else, am tired of Kordell, Everyone likes a take charge man but he has gone overboard! He constantly over talks Porsha and to me he’s overdoing it to make up for something… I think Porsha is fed up with it but wants to portray their relationship is a bed of roses. Not! I think he told her to try and get on the show because he wanted it more than her. I think he is trying to prove he is not gay and do his impression of what he thinks being a "man" is…controlling and taking care of your wife. She is okay with it because she has never had to think for herself so why start now. You can tell she never had a active role in the charity before t.v. I also think they have an understanding and this is a "white marriage" which works out well in Atlanta. She and Kenya should have gotten along better they are both running a sham for story lines.
..you’re right in so many ways. She did look like she didn’t mind..until last night. Something about being on these shows make the women feel like they’re on Dr. Phil and they tend to start telling all their otherwise little pent up emotions that they didn’t mind before the show and all that drinking they’re forced to do. And then they get in that between the scenes confession room AND on those reunion shows and say things they can’t take back. That’s when they lose their marriage and lifestyles they worked so hard at doing nothing to get. I really hope she gets off this show before her marriage goes the way of most of Bravo’s spouses.

Nope, I noticed that too with Boris. Kinda struck me as an ass hole a bit. I wonder if she paid him? If so she should have demanded that he change his clothes. As much as Cynthia worships the grown that NeNe walks on I was shocked that she "disobeyed" her advice about including Kenya on the panel. Her level of excitement over NeNe is so ridiculous. It goes beyond being a supportive friend. She’s star struck and its sad.

Kandi, I hate to admit it but I really like the song. She only has faint vocal abilities IMO and she always sounds like she is straining and over singing when she sings, but the lyrics and Marvin Sapp will have that song as an instant hit. Fantasia signing that song with Marvin would make it fire! Kandi is a very talented producer and has a keen eye at knowing what will be a hit though. I love that about her!
I like that Marvin called her out about over explaining herself. Her absentee dad being there made me feel some kinda way. Anytime a father comes back in the life of his now successful child, I always look at the man side ways…..sorry. All the crying and getting emotional seemed like theatrics IMO.

Last night’s episode was interesting…
Kandi – I’m glad that Kandi made a gospel song. Her song may touch alot of people. Also, folks need to remember God uses people however He sees fit. I don’t see Kandi’s venture into gospel music any different than R. Kelly. Another example of God using a person publicly is Steve Harvey. Steve was known for cussing up a storm as a comedian. Over the years, he has gotten into the church, started hosting gospel programs and performed a profanity free comedy show. He is a work in progress. Perhaps, Kandi is as well.
NeNe – Her camera time is so limited. Is she being phased out? Wonder if there is any truth to the rumors than Kenya’s role was to replace her.
Phaedra – The dinner party idea was interesting. The tongue wagging at Apollo was a bit much.
Chef Roble – Good to see him again. I liked his show. Also, he addressed the "gay" rumor on his show. His girlfriend was featured several times.
Kenya – Glad she toned down the antics for once. Wearing the Miss USA sash seemed appropriate. She was a pagent winner.
Cynthia – The pagent was quite disorganized initially. Guess that could be chalked up to inexperience at a first time venture. She should have arrived hours early for a sound check and a last minute run through of the script.
Boris – Why wasn’t he dressed up? Did he not know what he was there to do?
Porsha – She makes me laugh. I don’t know if she is really an airhead or if that is an act. Clearly, she will need some parenting lessons before having kids. I, too, was worried about a toddler standing up on a footstool.
Kordell – He does seem overbearing. However, he explained himself last night. He said "I’m not trying to be your father. However, this is what I like". Porsha admitted she married him knowing that he had those feelings. Maybe she thinks that she can change him and those feelings. She would not be the first woman/wife to try to change a man. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Time will tell.
Nene being phased out? Hmmmmm…a lil’ something to ponder. While I LOVE hell out of Nene, and many think she IS the cat’s meow on show, she indeed has been missing in action pretty much as Kim was. Could it be that she keeps heralding "The New Normal" more than RHOA in interviews? Nene…whether you are moving on or not, you’d better know that a bad taste is on Bravo’s tongue and you NEED to give props where props are due…you really don’t want to feel like Sheree in case new show which should be as successful as ‘Friends’ or ‘Seinfeld’ phases you out. Check that ego gurl because as you can see..while you’re throwing your head back laughing and referring to your cast mates as ‘The Girls’..a new "STAR IS BORN" aka Kenya Moore. While that’s a hard row to hoe being on two coasts, you have to do less on east coast..just be you, no scripts. If I were you I’d offer more to the root of fame. Just saying.
In other words, I wouldn’t be surprised if other chics might be glad to see you go thinking this will break up cliche’s. I am your loyal fan and will look for you everywhere, but would love if you remained on #1 reality show.

Why do people keep saying that Porsha is attractive? I just don’t see it. She looks like any average black chick walking down the street to me. I’ve seen chicks with NOTHING and who stay in the hood that would look just as good as Porsha had they had the right makeup and hair weave! This is not hating, but simply telling it like it is. The girl knows how to dress, but dang…some of your people try to excuse her behavior just because she’s "pretty." She’s still dumb as rocks! She adds NOTHING to this show either, her nor her GAY husband. She needs to watch out cause Kordell seems to get more AROUSED with Walter and Peter than with Porsha…LMBO

Now Cynthia know she knew better then this. She should have had scripts drafted and printed out weeks before. She should have informed Boris to wear some form of formal attire. She should have had some form of entertainment available for intermission and vote tallying. I mean this is stuff I would have had delegated out and completed. I can’t believe she waited until right before the show started to go over scripts shame shame shame. It was her first one though I expect fabulousness next year Miss. Cynthia. She made her mistakes and she knows what they were so she better fix em or they gon drag her again SMH.
If Cynthia still had Mallory (her sister) in her life the pageant would have been more organized and professional. But we all know that Peter messed that up. Peter has already said on camera that he would not help his wife because no one was there to help him. When you like/love someone you want to see them succeed especially if you have the intelligent and resources to get things done for them. Mallory always had her sisters’ best interest at heart. But like a said Peter messed that up.
She also should have asked Kenya for help a lot earlier since she knows more on the ins and outs of the pageant business.
Well considering Kenya doesn’t know how to act in public I’m assuming she was on the fence until the last minute.
I stopped watching this show once Walking Dead returned. Sorry but that show blows this one out the water. I usually just watch Dineva’s recaps but he has not made a video lately. Oh well there’s always Yardie.

Bravo needs to be called out for their poor editing. Who were they fooling trying to make as if Porsha and Kordell pre-planned her nieces visit? Clearly the niece’s visit was before Kordell’s birthday party, but they try to make us believe it’s afterwards. It would have been wise to have Porsha change clothes to make it more believable, because both she and the baby had on the same outfits worn to meet with the party planner last week, lol.
As for Porsha’s 13yr old niece who accompanied her to the pageant, that was the most ridiculous, ghetto fabulous thing I’ve seen since the last time I visited St. Louis. Yet, she claims she’s from a distinguished family…but that child had colored weave down her back, a form fitting dress, and heels on. 13? Really?
