While most of the world was watching the 55th Annual Grammy Awards, the 14th episode of the 5th season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta aired last night (February 10, 2013).
The show, entitled “Prayed Up” was in my opinion, the most BORING episode this season.
Two observations: Porsha Stewart got way too much camera time this week and “Krazy” Kenya Moore seems to be on a mission of damage control.
I almost don’t even have to write my “5 things” because Bravo wrote them for me in their synopsis:
Porsha is pulling out all the stops to throw Kordell a Harlem Renaissance-themed party for his 40th.
Cynthia isn’t pleased with Porsha’s lack of support she has dedicated to her pageant, and tempers flare when she confronts Porsha.
Kandi meets with her manager Don Juan, who’s concerned about her lack of focus lately.
At his big party, Kordell sets Cynthia and Porsha straight by helping to mend their relationship.
Meanwhile, Kenya is shocked when she finds two suspicious lumps in her breasts.

One thing we all learned: Kordell is an asshole and is verbally abusive. It’s just a matter of time until Porsha grows a brain and realizes he talks to her like a child. on that day she does wake up. she’s outta there.
As long as Kordell’s money doesn’t run out air headed Porsha will keep her head in the clouds.
If she acts like child then he treats her like one. She is his little doll to dress up and play house with, and she is down with that.

Kordell is more like a father to Porsha. He’s controlling, rude as hell and has way to much say so in the drama amongst the girls. Cynthia looked really annoyed by him.
The comment about Porsha being Kordell’s Barbie doll also made me give a bit of side eye about those rumors.

I was done with these Black males when Kordell told Cynthia that she and his wife get on his nerves and Peter sitting there laughing at his wife’s expense. The marriages didn’t last but at least their last bit of fame was not at the expense of their wives on camera. I could tell the DE Shawn’s husband was over her but he always was respectfully on camera. I could tell Lisa was over her husband but at least she was respectful to him on camera. I guess I miss the early seasons when they showed Black couples were loving and kind to each other. I know that makes for boring TV, but I miss it.

I think Cynthia handled the pageant situation with Porsha a lot better than Phadrea handled the donkey booty situation with Kenya. Am I the only one that is truly disturbed by Cynthia? She is such a backstabber. First off, the pageant is yours, not Porsha’s, so why do you expect her to do work. I agree she’s responsible for getting the logo to you, but that’s not a big deal. Nobody told you to throw a pageant with only 5 days to plan, and now you’re trying to make someone who really doesn’t have anything to do with the pageant work for you? Even the little "assignments" that she gave Porsha to do couldn’t have been so significant that it would cause any delays for the show. Why you just be truthful and say what is really is…that you and Peter don’t want to give anything to the charity because yall need all the money yall can get!@
Secondly, why are you trying to have business meetings in someone else’s home? I don’t blame Porsha and her husband for calling it off. Like they said, their home isn’t a place of business. So I wonder if he gives those same ground rules to all the "strangers" that come there for work or casting of some sort? I do no like her at all. She’s classy, you can never take that away from her. She always handle’s herself as a lady, but she has a lot to say behind closed doors. Cynthia clearly said she didn’t give Porsha a lot to do so she wouldn’t be overwhelmed… also since Porsha’s charity was involved in the pageant would it not make sense that she participate? It’s good exposure, I mean what good is the housewives show if they don’t do things together??? The things that Cynthia asked Porsha to do were not outside of the realm of what she supposedly already does… How can you give anything to a charity if you don’t have the necessary information about it?

I did commend Cynthia on being classy…so the way in which she told Porsha that she no longer needed her services was done correctly. I specifically pointed her errors and her backstabbing ways. She has backstabbed all season long. As for the raggedy Bailey Agency (lol), when you do wrong by people, things don’t take off…point blank period. How dare she take advantage of hard working parents by putting together a pageant in five days and charging insurmountable amounts of money for something she admittedly has no experience in. When she opened the agency, supposedly it was about her passion for the art of modeling and the bottom line of course (making money). Doing this pageant is all about making money because her business isn’t doing well, and the true reason she kicked Porsha to the curb is because she does not want to dish any money to the charity. If this is harsh, so be it.

Well there is nothing wrong with be a masculine male. The problem is that these 2 males in particulate (Peter & Kordell) are not gentlemen to their wives or any other women on the show. They are misogynist to their hearts and are only with their wives for ulterior motives. Peter is in the marriage for (Cynthia’s) money and fame. Kordell married/hired Porsha to be his professional beard. These 2 are men, but they are definitely NOT gentlemen. It is not a good look to talk to your wife like she is some dude on the street or on the field. Gentlemen speak to their wives in a kind and loving way.
I’m sorry, but name of the show is the REAL HOUSEWIVES. In reality, when in having an everyday conversation about any subject (especially one that has been discussed before) we don’t say honey and dear sweetheart and sugar boo boo. Sorry. Sometimes we speak in a demanding tone, it doesn’t mean that there is no love respect and admiration there. It just is what it is. Sometimes, some women get so caught up in being the independent woman, not needing man, etc., we forget how to treat one when we get one. Now I won’t say that Peter and Kordell are not gentlemen because they don’t speak to their wives in syrupy voices, and I’m definitely am not going to assume anything about either marriage ulterior motitives, but I will say that sometimes in the African American community we are guilty of not properly conveying out proper feelings and sentiments. It is obvious that both Porsha and Cynthia are able to deal with their men and how they are spoken to. Neither of them seem abused or bother (of course if there is a divorce things will probably change).
My father spoke to me and my sisters in a "hard manner" people on the outside thought we were in an abusuve home. That was definitely not the case, it was just his way. So, I get that it’s not what you say, it’s how you say it. But black men, mostly, do not sit and talk in a nice and sweet calming manner. Mostly they are loud, rough, and straight to the point. Maybe I’m used to it because my father was present and my mother could be a woman, but I was raised that As a wifey husband is the head of my household. I’m supposed to respect him and his wishes. And in turn he will do the same. Thankfully it has worked out so far for me. And I don’t think that I’m submissive. I have a MPA and normally work everyday as a director of a non profit organization. I’m just saying learn how to let the man be the man.
Well I can understand what you are saying because we may come from different backgrounds, cultures and customs. I guess I just hate a misogynist. Black men will sometimes complain that Black women are too aggressive and strong but look at how Black men treat young girls and women. Black women are raised to be aggressive out of necessity. It’s kind of hard to turn that all off and be submissive if you are taught to be hard all of your life. The problem where men go wrong is trying to beat (either mentally or physically) women into submission. Some men don’t want a soft, gentle and submissive wife, they just want a doormat. I consider myself amiable. So do others but I find that some men think that just because I am soft spoken, mild mannered and kind they think that they can talk to me any kind of way. I politely put them on ignore. This is way I consider both Kordell and Peter misogynist. They both have mild mannered, easy going wives who don’t raise their voices to them when upset but their men still are rude and dismissive to them. I don’t expect them to change but I get uncomfortable when they talk down to their wives on TV.

If you are a woman,and if ever you feel a lump in your breast, then you’ll remember that episode and mentally give her an oscar. Because the fear and apprehension after detection and the pain of a biopsy and finally the exhilaration on receiving negative results on malignancy was exactly what a woman goes through in that ordeal.

Well for once I agree with this blogger, the episode last night was the most boring of the season! Last night’s episode was a PERFECT example that Kenya saved this season so far cause both Porsha and her entire family are a complete bore! Her husband talks way too much and it too controlling. I don’t like any of the men on this show really…in fact the only one that I have liked so far this season was Lawrence and that’s because he’s been throwing so much shade at Phaedra and he’s been on Kenya’s side. LOL. I knew Kenya didn’t have cancer, but I really don’t think she was playing up for the cameras. You got to realize this show was taped LAST SUMMER. I think Cynthia handled the situation in a good way. Yeah she’s messy but it’s good to see the REAL Cynthia without Nene constantly being there. If Faketra and Porsha are so cool, why wasn’t Faketra and Apollo at the party? Honestly I’m starting to believe Kenya on Walter being gay and coming out. He said Kenya is not marriage material but he isn’t either considering how he’s divorced and in his LATE 40s acting like he’s 22. I actually loved every bit of that scene because it shows you did not come into money and forget who she was. And I nearly lost it when Porsha said she was a bit "perturbed?" this episode was extremely boring. for some reason i have always loved greg and i like that nene picked greg and not chasing after some young baller type. peter should not have laughed off kordell speaking to his wife that way. porsha is ugly to me i don’t know why. i think she should be replaced. kandi is boring without kim or mama joyce to interact with. i say kandi make a song about anything you want, anybody should be able to sing about god/redemption w/o fear of the christian holier than thou’s putting them down. whatever.
