Jermaine Dupri is prepping for his 20th anniversary all-star concert and it seems that just about all of the old SoSo Def gang is ready, willing and able to participate in the festivities.
Dupri made a grand announcement about the upcoming show, which is scheduled for February 23rd in Atlanta, as he stood beside Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed on the steps of Atlanta’s City Hall.

Former and current SoSoDef artists, friends and supporters all took part in the press conference, but many were left speculating about Xscape, the girl group that once featured Kandi Burruss, sisiters LaTocha & Tameka Scott, and Tameka “Tiny” Cottle?
Bow Wow aka ‘Mr. 106 & Park’ left SoSoDef for the greener pastures of Lil Wayne‘s Young Money Records, but he still plans to participate in Jermaine’s anniversary celebration.
And although he’s actually had his own share of issues with Jermaine, that didn’t stop Bow Wow from trying to call out Kandi regarding her decision NOT to reunite with her former group members for the SoSoDef Anniversary concert.

Jermaine recently commented about Bow Wow’s lil rant.
Details below…
Jermaine was asked about Bow Wow’s rant by Sister 2 Sister, and he responded:
I don’t feel anything at all [about those comments]. I’m not even thinking about that. Do you know how crazy this concert is? For me to even think about that is a waste of my time.
The approach of getting 13 artists all in the same place and to perform all of these hits is so much more positive than I have to put into that.
That little talking, that stuff means nothing to me.
In other words… ‘shut up Bow-Wow we’ve got work to do‘!
Dupri goes on to explain his decision to host a So So Def Anniversary show after all these years, stating:
I’m at a moment in life where I had a couple of my friends pass away and it made me feel as though maybe I should take advantage of this opportunity while I’m here. All the artists are here, well and healthy.
You never know what the 21st anniversary will look or feel like.

Ok, granted Kandi has some scheduling conflicts she could have contributed to this in some capacity. KANDI stop holding grudges babe. Xscape is not Xscape with out Kandi and those high notes that she can actually hit. To be honest if KANDI were to even be confirmed to join the line up. I would literally book it to ATL for the show. Xscape is my favorite group of all time. I hope something gives.
I agree with you. But you are forgetting about Tiny. While Xscape isn’t my fav. I will say that if I had a chance to see them perform it would have to be with the orignal line up. Because most of their best work came when they were together.
I would have loved to see Kandi participate. She did admit to sleeping with JD and I read she slept with one of the Jagged Edge twins. So that would be a little uncomfortable. One of the Scott sisters called her out about it on a NYC radio station and then later apologized. Kandi + SoSoDef =Drama.
Wow! But lets hope that Kandi and Tiny make a surprise appearance. I mean it was rumored that DC would not appear at the SB and only Beyounce was to perform( i read this on mto) and look…we were all fooled and surprised! I just read the back-story on how she ‘RESPECTFULLY’ declined due to a ‘SCHEDULING CONFLICT’ with her ‘BUSINESS PROMOTION’. Can someone tell me what is so wrong with that? People, this is the world of money and SMART BUSINESS PRACTICES. It would be bad business to cancel your own project to join what could be a possible disaster just for the sake of the fans. I mean, lets be real here…how many TRUE fans are going be there compared to the ‘drama hungry’ folks who just want to see a fight??
Stop and ask yourself this: Would YOU scrap plans on something that you had 1: scheduled BEFORE the invite? 2: possibly feel uncomfortable doing? and 3: just throw away all of the MONEY, time and effort you have already invested into YOUR company? So consider this before before we come up with all of these crazy theories and start hating her for her decision.
When and if the time is right, Kandi and the other members will give the fans what they want and their TRUE fans will understand and support this. As for BW…I take what he says with a grain of salt. Ask him to perform with someone that he had a falling out with when it may affect him making revenue on his own ventures….I think we ALL know the answer to this one…

I totally agree. Yes JD started her career but she is doing bigger things on her own. Xscape will always be one of my fav groups but it just doesn’t seem like the smart thing to do if ther is drama & tension. Sometimes saying no is best. Best of luck to them all!

I would like to see her exercise the same caution with these men she brings in her life and around her daughter that she does with her former group mates.
I forget which sister made the comments, but she did apologize. Let the grudge go. Harboring ill feelings for years is not healthy and will block your future blessings.
Truth be told, Kandi would probably do wonders for her own career if she DID reunite with Xscape for a few hits. Correct me if I am wrong, but her last album was a dissappoinment in both sales and sound. Interest in Kandi as a solo artist is basically non-existant.
As a singer yes Xscape would be ideal, as a songwriter she makes more money and that’s why she doesn’t need them..she wasn’t allowed to write at all with Xscape and has done wonders for her career outside of it, no one knew she could write until she and Tiny were given that chance and it wasn’t from JD. Yes he’s given her, her start but she doesn’t owe him anything else..There may be other issues we aren’t privy too..it simply sounds like she’s moved on from that part of her life
Thanks. And, yes, I know that she makes more money as a writer and producer, but I also know she wants recognition for her work as a vocalist as well, which did not happen with that last album.
I’m mainly just waxing sentimental and hoping to hear "Understanding" live again. At the end of the day, if you have evolved past a certain point in your life it really is hard to go back.

If someone blamed me for breaking up the group and they knew it was a lie, but said it anyway because I’m the person currently with the spotlight. I wouldn’t do anything to assist them in making a comeback either. JD has nothing to do with it and Bow Wow, just wants some attention. I would say to Bow Wow thirsty much; ask Kenya how that’s working out for her!
Personally, I really liked Xscape as a whole. They were to me a kind of ghetto version of the Funky Diva’s themselves Envogue. They could sing really well and had great songs. The choreography was never together though. I would luv to see them on stage again…

At a certain point in life you must do what is best for yourself, even if it’s unpopular, in order to enjoy life. We already know she is a giving person. Damn, Kim still owes for 40k and she was like, “keep it, I’m good.”
In my opinion, this decision not to perform does not tarnish her image. Kandi has enough gwap and writing talent to disappear from the spotlight right know. Millions of women wanted to be on the RHOAL, Bravo called and asked her. She didn’t interview or ask them for a handout. She gets out here and grinds every day and isn’t flashy doing so. I got mad respect for her. Bow-Wow, go kick rocks.
