  • What Did You Think of The “Beyonce Bowl”?? Full Halftime Performance… (VIDEO)

    Beyonce Superbowl 2013 StraightFromTheA-04

The jokes started even before the Super Bowl did last night about Beyonce’s half-time performance.

Beyonce Superbowl 2013Many, including yours truly, labeled Super Bowl XLVII the “Beyonce Bowl” at as it turns out, it actually was a football game going on around Beyonce’s concert.

“King B” as she’s affectionately called hit the stage last night and wowed the entire country… I dunno about you, but I’d place her halftime performance in the top 3, alongside Michael Jackson & Madonna.

Beyonce’ brought fellow “Destiny’s Child” members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams along for the ride as well and graciously thanked them along with her ‘opening acts’… Alicia Keys and Jennifer Hudson with the following letter:

Yaaaassss! It was your run of the mill Beyonce choreo. Her dancing was flawless as usual but I’ve seen those moves times before so doesn’t have the wow factor for me anymore :( . I used to loooove Beyonce back in her original DC days before she became so popular. I admired her genuine personality back then but now…she seems so guarded, public pleasing, over tries to be a goody good, scared to let the real Bey show. I blame media because she seemed to have changed when the orig group broke up and so many blamed her and started putting everything she did under a microscope. Now she’s found the sweet spot, just what the masses want from her and she’s sticking to it. But ain’t nothing like the "old " Bey.

I SO agree!….I think the only people impressed with her are her fans.

I’m not a fan of Beyonce therefore I didn’t even take the time to watch her nor did I watch the superbowl but I’m glad The Ravens won.

I’m quite sure her fans watched her but the problem is that her fans think everyone must be a fan but she is just not my style at all…

Beyonce is a hard worker. She brought it like she normally does. I was disappointed with the set list. I wished she would have done "Who run the world" and "Get me Bodied". The "baby boy" part was the best. Kelly looked thicka than a snicka. I loved when Kelly and Michelle "jumped" out on stage.

That’s what she gets paid to do, pop that coochie and look good. Period. The men love it. Most women have to take a long hard look at themselves when they see such a beautiful young woman on the TV screen. They know they’re man is looking! LOL Well get over it. She is the shytt!Period. People like you are one of the reasons why many people can’t stand Beyonce. You Bey worshipers are always calling people the played out term "hater" when they’re not all about worship for her.

Perhaps you don’t know this but there are people that want more substance from an entertainer. You are so basic that you feel people should expect her to be nothing but someone that pops her coochie….

How do you know ALL men like Beyonce? Please come off the high that you are on because only a very very foolish person would be sitting up here talking about women are getting jealous of an entertainer because their man or even woman are looking at Beyonce….You’re just another silly gay dude that want to be a woman living vicariously through Beyonce, poor thing.

One thing I do agree with as it pertain to what you stated "she is indeed the shytt" Team Talent!!!

then if you want more "substance", as you call it, listen to and support other artists. i don’t see any comments here telling people they HAVE to like Beyonce or HAVE to like her SuperBowl performance. There are thousands of artists and numerous music styles to choose from so to waste your time coming here to say negative things in a post about an artist you don’t like and feel has no "substance" says more about you than it does about Beyonce’s fans.

i think what’s so hypocritical and why people are called "haters" is that they take time out to dissect to the nth degree why Beyonce isn’t this or isn’t that and explain in great detail why they don’t like her; when if you really don’t care and/or don’t like her dancing, singing, looks, etc. why even put your energy into saying something about her period?!?

Actually,I do SUPPORT other TALENTED artists of SUBSTANCE that actually EARN their fame as opposed to being pushed by some machine….

You don’t DICTATE to me as to where I post. This is Michelle’s site, not yours.Blogs are for people to GIVE THEIR opinions whether YOU agree or not….

It seems to me that I have struck a NERVE because what I wrote is FACT!I can go to any blog and if anyone says anything that is not about worship for her then those that support her will call people the played out term "Hater" because YOU have nothing else to say….

I don’t dissect Beyonce until the ninth degree because I don’t listen to her anymore.Whenever I hear that voice on the radio,I hurriedly change the station…The thing that’s comical to me is how much ENERGY YOU are putting into WORRYING about what I think……

        • IJS says:

I must have struck a nerve. In the words of Nene Leakes, " a hit dog will bark!". I’m anything but basic. I too, happen to be a very attractive woman. Most if not all men love watching her perform. Most women are secretly wishing they had it like that. Don’t front. You must be a real "booger" to even take it that seriously. I simply commented that she is an entertainer. Her style is to drop it like it’s hot and that’s all I said. If it was good enough for prime time tv it’s good enough for me. If you have a problem with Bey, that’s your issue. Don’t get on here chopping up my observation. Beyotch!

I agree. I like Beyonce, but I don’t see what all the hype was about. She’s a great performer as usual, but nothing about last night stood out any more then usual. That’s the thing about being great, you have to keep upping your game. Last night was great, but she’s always great, therefore it was just typical. So yes, at this point she does need to walk on water to impress me, lol. I like seeing Destiny’s Child, didnt realize how much I missed them as a group. Right….black people are asking for equal rights, yet we always have to put emphasis on there only being "African American" performers, or the president being "african American." If you want to be treated equal, stop creating such a divide by stating the obvious.

Josephine Baker, Tina Turner, and Patti LaBelle (in her early days) were all p*ssy poppers in their day. And perhaps you should worry about your legacy rather than criticizing someone else’s without knowing the full extent of her charitable works, content of character, etc.

First – Jennifer Hudson can sing. Its like her pipes were personally touched by Heaven’s choir. So talented and so damn humble. Love her.

Second – Beyonce did alright… for Beyonce. She is an extremely talented stage presence who gives her ALL to her audience. However, if you’ve seen any of her other live concert performances, there was nothing different to see last night. It was great, just not mind-blowing fresh.

I’m just shocked with the "Bey killed it statements". I think she did a great job, but I didn’t see anything new. I mean what she did last night is pretty much standard for her performances as far as voice, outfit, and choreography…. Maybe I blinked and missed something.

I will admit that Beyonce is a beautiful woman…but her performance wasn’t wow…it’s what we have seen Beyonce do many times… I still can’t see the hype of this performance…. There are way better singers than her so I consider her wayyyyyyy overrated. The singers that are better than her are underrated because they don’t sexualize that performances like her. My opinion…not a hater at all I just give props where props are due and in this case no props are due well besides her hair looked good but again that’s the same style that she’s worn for however many years she’s been I the game.

Agree with you 100% percent! Being that it was half time at the super bowl she could have suprised every1 and came out with sneakers and a jersey, and kept her crotch covered 4 once! She’s just so predictable. Blond hair, crotch out, liatard, heels, sasha fierce walk, wind blowing, rolling on the floor, there was nothing spectacular about her performance. She’s still great though.

She could have added Blue to the end or something…maybe add ..being a mom now… I’m sure her mother had something to do with those outfits..honey..lol side eye lol

This is the ONLY site where I felt ppl weren’t in owe of her peformance. I’ve been a Bey fan since she went solo and this performance was no different from her tours and other performances. She always brings it like this, so it’s hard for me to be wowed by her performances. She’s one of the greatest performers ever and she always gives 100% so for me it’s hard for her to top herself. Still love Bey though!

I thought that Beyonce gave a SUPERBOWL worthy performanc and She really rocked the house. I enjoyed the special effects, the lighting, and all of that At first, when I noticed Kelly and Michelle on the stage I was like… what a surprise. Because nobody had mentioned that they would join her. But when they started singing, I was shocked to realize that their mics… were turned off? Or what? I know it was Beyonce’s Half-Time performance but damn!!! Why was her mic the only one I could hear????? To me that’s just shady. And it really took away from her performance somewhat. For me anyway. Am I the only one who noticed this?

It was good though, I’ll give her dat cuz I watched all 15 minutes of it. However, her making sho they mics were turned down was dirty as hell. Then she out there on some Ike and Tina shit talmbout some sing Kelly, yo turn Michelle as if they didn’t know why they was there and what part to sing! Im like gone Beyonce!

The half time show sucked. She came out stumping on the stage like she had vertigo and was fixing to fall at any minute. She was trying to sound sexy and ended up sounding tired all the time. She (I assume) had Kelly and Michelle’s mic turned down so they couldn’t out sing her. Everyone know Kelly is the better singer. Her sexy facial expressions failed as she looked possessed on most of the shots with all that black eyeliner/eye-shadow. She didn’t do no new material because that sucks as well. I was looking forward to Countdown, though. I like that one. Wearing a leotard, shaking your booty, and crotch rocking in front of children is not acceptable so either she was never pregnant or the maternal instinct hasn’t kicked in but in a country where sex sells and knowing how to entertain can make you rich, she has did just that and she continue to entertain those fans who don’t care what she does because she is pretty. She is not a singer, she is a entertainer and that is not the same as a performer. She couldn’t even hold her notes to her own song, HALO. Not the best halftime show by a long shot. Prince and Madonna are still holding that for now, Janet Jackson even did better with her nipple slip. Also, why Michelle & Beyonce chose the same designer why is michelle’s outfit so plain as compared to hers.

Prince is the number one superbowl half time show, a musician, singer, dancer and performer(thats REAL talent) …. then in no particular order Janet, Madonna, Rolling Stones……….

You’re going to lose credibility with that statement if you’re going as far as to say Madonna’s super bowl performance was better. I’m all for respecting people’s opinions, but I can’t imagine any rational person arguing Madonna was better. For vocal talent alone, Beyonce blows Madonna out of the water. And Beyonce killed with her dancing, she was absolutely fierce. Madonna’s performance looked like tame weak sauce by comparison.

Ceelo is what made Madonna’s performance and according to the polls they are hold the spot for the top 2 and Madonna’s was better. Its gonna be a gap in the generations the over 35 crowd could care less about B (minus the men) and the under 35 think she killed it. Oh and all celebrities are going to hail at her feet to make sure they don’t mess up any future business opportunities with her or JayZ but like I said its a difference in a entertainer and a performer. Back them the performers performed their music (same note, same sound, etc) and entertained, today its all about entertainment with no real thought to performance. Not impressed.

The performance itself was good. I am not a personal fan of her music but she definitely did what she did for the half time show. My favorite performer was Prince when he did the halftime show.

The best part of everything was the girl power energy. It was great. Sista’s were everywhere representing and she invited her sisters to perform with her on stage. It was lovely to see and she’s one of hardest working women in the industry. I just personally am ready to see new flesh and blood in the industry overall. I am tired of the same artists all over the place.
I grew up when there was a "variety" of different artists but nowadays…its the same folks everywhere.

I’ve attended a lot of concerts and other live performances so I expect to be wowed and I wasn’t. That’s not hate – I just didn’t get excited by her performance. I’ve seen Destiny Child perform live before and the crowd was dead b/c their performance wasn’t too exciting…..but when Kanye hit the stage we all woke up (this was YEARSSSSSSS ago at Essence Festival).

Hell just last month, she was all covered up and lookin all innocent for the President and then this hoe pops out with a corsetted bathing suit. Jay has exited the Bey train station and on his way to the Rita Ora Station. She is no longer the hottest chick in his game. He’s bored and looking for more excitement. Why throw up the Roc a Fella sign, he wasn’t checkin for you, he was in LA, trying to give Justin Timberlakes career some CPR. Maybe she should take some time off and educate herself, because the chick dotted her "e" which was really an "i" because she can’ t spell.

Beyonce’s concerts are always high energy, which makes her performances "SEEM" great. However, if you look at all of her concerts, they’re basically the same; same dance routines, same Tina Turner-like gyrating and wildness, same skimpy outfits. What makes her performances good is that she knows how to turn up the energy to get people hyped-up.

Here is something to think about. Go back and watch the Kings of Comedy and listen to Steve Harvey when he said, "He feels sorry for our generation because all we have is Hip Hop and dancing!" No real singers!

No singers out their performing folks. Everyone is talking about her energy and dancing. What about the DAMN singing and Lyrics! That’s what I think music should be about. Songs that move you. Nothing she performed last night does that.

This blog say’s "Top 3"… She has no classics but the other 2 you named, their music will stand the test time. Hell, I would pay to see a MJ concert if he was 70. He don’t have to dance just sing. King B, hell naw.

THIS CHIC & HER TEAM- "BRILLIANT", TO TAKE THE REINS OF HER CAREER AND NEGOTIATE THAT $50 MILLION DEAL WITH PEPSI, THEN TO SHUT THE STAGE DOWN AND LEAVE PEOPLE BEGGING FOR MORE WAS MORE THAN I COULD HAVE ASKED FOR! EXITS SUPER BOWL STAGE AND ANNOUNCES SHE’S GOING ON TOUR(JUST IN CASE YOU MISSED THE SUPER BOWL YOU CAN CATCH HER LIVE IN A CITY NEAR YOU) SHE’S A MARKETING GENIUS, HER BRAND IS SICK AND HER SHOW WENT OFF WITHOUT A HITCH. THAT’S HOW YOU SILENCE YOUR H8′TERS YOU GET YOUR OWN HALFTIME SHOW AT THE SUPER BOWL AND A $50 MILLION DOLLAR ENDORCEMENT BY PEPSI. IT’S AMAZING HOW YOU CAN DO ALMOST EVERYTHING RIGHT TO REACH THE PENNACLE OF YOUR CAREER, CONTINUE TO BE HUMBLE AND TAKE EVERY NASTY DIG PEOPLE TOSS YOUR WAY (AND STILL REMAIN GRACIOUS NOT TURNING INTO A SUPER ICY BITCH, AND SHE HAS EVERY RIGHT TOO AFTER ALL THE CRAP HER OWN RACE PUTS HER THROUGH) BUT YET AND STILL, SHE CONDUCTS HERSELF LIKE THE "QUEEN" SHE IS!! MY PEOPLE LET’S STOP THIS CRABS IN THE BUCKET SYNDROME, STOP NIPPING AT HER HEELS TRYING TO PULL HER BACK DOWN! ***more to say***
I’m opposed to labeling her genre of dance "coochie popping". Many black people have been brainwashed to think what they do is wrong or inappropiate because our level of correct is connected to a white way of functioning. Her style of dance is comprable to african dance which is part of black heritage. Yet, we judge or label her which means to label ourselves. And, while she may not be a rocket scientist she sure as hell created a multi-million dollar empire that would give any other brand a run for it’s money.

I think she’s having a hella of a year. The inauguration, GQ’s sexiest woman alive and the super bowl show. I haven’t bought an album since Bday but I may buy the next because I thinks she’s back on top.

The bad…there was nothing original about this performance…at some point the whole coochie poppin thing becomes…coochie poppin* shrug.

Once Kelly came out my attention was on her then I realized that she to was doing the same ol recycled moves.
