It’s official. Beyoncé did not sing the national anthem live at President Obama’s inauguration yesterday (January 21, 2013).

While millions of viewers around the world praised the hot mom’s vocals, her spectacular rendition of the national anthem was actually pre-recorded. *gasp*
Details below…
Days prior to her performance, Beyonce shared photos of her “practicing” the song with the Marine Corp Band, however according to TheTimes, Queen B made a last minute decision to lip sync the song to a pre-recorded track.
A spokeswoman for the Marine Corp Band Kristen DuBois said it was standard procedure to record a backing track and Beyoncé decided shortly before her performance to rely on the studio version rather than risk singing it live on the Capitol.

I think you may need 2 check ur facts ATLien/Michelle because the Marine band has since backtracked on this statement….what the article said was that the BAND’S portion of the song was pre-recorded as Beyonce did not have time 2 rehearse with the Marine band….

I said the same thing too. It’s still her voice regardless if she sung it live or not. Many well known stars have done this; nothing new here if it was lip synched. I think she did a good job. There are so many others that could not have even come close to singing the National Anthem for a crowd this size (live or lip synched).

This story is not surprising. If I remember correctly, it was reported at the last inauguration that the group (featuring Yo Yo Ma) played to prerecorded music as well. I think it had to do with the sound in that arena.
I’m assuming that was still her singing on the recording. It doesn’t really matter to me. Not everyone can sing live. She stayed in her vocal lane (to use Kevin Hart’s words). She did a good job.

It was cold as sh*t out there. Trust me. Singing in the elements like that puts a strain on your vocal chords. Alicia and Jennifer sung inside in the warmth. Kelly may not have a huge performance coming up in 2 wks where all the world will be watching.

She sang along with the track, she didn’t lip synch. She started to feel her runs too much and it didn’t match up to what she recorded. It’s not uncommon. Whitney did the same thing. They do that just in case there are tech difficulties, the show must go on. At the end of the day, I’d rather see her lip synch than to hear some of these other chicks out here with the bullshit.
Well Ricky Minor who was Whitney Houston’s music director at the time she sang her perfect rendition of The National Anthem said that she ALSO used a Pre-Recorded track because due to sound quality and noise volume its hard to sing live and stay on pitch in stadiums and places where more than 50 thousand people gather. Whitney and Beyonce sang to their own vocal tracks.Whitney’s is the best ever while Beyonce did a good job also.

The removal of the ear piece was drama for her sheep!! She lip-synced because the studio has that magical sound board, engineers and auto tune. Remember when her old vocal coach said she was straining her voice?? I love plenty of her songs but she can sing not SANG, BLOW, or even touch the true vocalists.

Sean Williams, Aretha was asked to perform the National Anthem in 2009, but she said she could not perform the Anthem in the cold. She performed God Bless America or America the Beautiful instead. She said her vocals would not last in that weather to reach those notes. Kelly sang well, but her song was easier. I think if she had to sing the Anthem in that weather, she would have probably lip-synced also. If Aretha couldn’t do it, who could.

I think after the late 70′s they started pre recording the anthem for important events. Aretha and Whitney both pre recorded their historic moments singing the anthem. Although, Whitney really set the bar and change the game with her version.

She chose to go with the pre-recorded version – who knows why; maybe she was nervous as hell at having to sing the US Anthem for the President’s Inauguration and didn’t want to take a chance of messing up – but we all know the girl can sing live. Google her live, YouTube her live and you can find any number of videos as proof. While she didn’t lip-sync, only sang along with pre-recorded vocals, many artists do and will continue to do so. Whitney’s version of the Star Spangled Banner was DOPE. And pre-recorded. Didn’t stop it from being the all time greatest rendition of the anthem. Why is it that Beyonce is constantly being pulled apart for everything she does? Come on y’all.
Look here, rather than bitch at other haters I’m going point a finger at myself and admit it. I hate on her too, and here’s why: I won’t buy her music or go to her concerts, because deep down I really think she’s too beautiful, too talented, too rich, too successful, with a healthy baby and an amazing body, and a husband who may not be fine, but will ensure their family stays wealthy for generations. I hate her because her life seems perfect, and NOBODY is supposed to have that much going for them all at once.
Once I’m honest with myself, I can either look at my own life and be happy with my own achievements – my marriage, my job, the fact that i’m a mom and in great shape too cuz I WORKED AT IT, or I can be mad at Beyonce for the success she’s worked very hard to attain, when I know damn well I’m not really prepared to put in the work she has. I also know that her life can’t really be THAT perfect – she’s just got a whole machine behind her to make it seem that way. If she puts her draws on one leg at a time, she’s gotta have bad days, weeks or months too.
Bottom line, there is nothing stopping me or anybody else from being as great as Beyonce is but ourselves. While we’re wasting time on the blogs staring at her pictures and criticizing her from a place of envy, that girl is on her way to the next business opportunity.
