Those who say that Kanye shouldn’t wear a kilt/skirt (his was a kilt unless one includes "made of wool" in their definition of "kilt") because he is an African-American with no "Scottish heritage", are ignoring the fact that Kanye’s African heritage includes the sarong, kikoy, kitenge, kanga and caftan.

More importantly, those who say that Kanye shouldn’t wear a skirt, are promoting prejudice and sexism. The complete statement of this prejudice is (1)"Men don’t wear skirts.." (2)"..because skirts are feminine.." (3)"..and feminine is bad". #1 is sexist against men – dictating a restricted dress code based on gender. #2 is false – because skirts have always been unisex. #3 is sexist against women – the same old patriarchal misogyny that feminism has been fighting for decades.

I am not saying that any man must wear a skirt. That would contradict my point – that nobody has the right to tell another how they are "allowed" to dress, nor should anyone apply ridicule, derision or shame to punish another for how they dress. I say, judge Kanye on the content of his character, not the cut of his clothing. Fair enough?
