A recent scientific study has been completed that actually re-inforces the notion that homosexuality is a trait that some just so happen to be born with.
According to the report, the source may actually lie in epigenetics, or how the expression of genes is controlled by “temporary switches” known as epi-marks.

According to the NYDailyNews, homosexuality can finally be explained in scientific terms after scientists revealed they may have discovered the source of same-sex attraction.
In a study released Tuesday, researchers from the National Institute for Mathematical and Biological Synthesis wrote that the answer of ‘why some people are gay’ may lie in epigenetics, or how the expression of genes is controlled by “temporary switches” known as epi-marks.
As stated above, sex-specific epi-marks are usually “erased” from generation to generation. But when they do not disappear, they can be passed from father to daughter or mother to son, resulting in homosexuality in children.

“Transmission of sexually antagonistic epi-marks between generations is the most plausible evolutionary mechanism of the phenomenon of human homosexuality,” Sergey Gavrilets, the study’s co-author, said in a release.
Researchers have long believed that sexual orientation had some hereditary component.
However, scientists say that homosexuality, in terms of evolution, cannot be solely genetic, because the trait would eventually disappear given that homosexuals aren’t expected to reproduce.
Epi-marks, on the other hand, are thought to have an evolutionary advantage that keeps them within the population.

For instance, some epi-marks work to protect a female fetus from becoming too masculine if testosterone spikes in late pregnancy.
“These epi-marks protect fathers and mothers from excess or underexposure to testosterone — when they carry over to opposite-sex offspring, it can cause the masculinization of females or the feminization of males,” William Rice, the study’s lead author, told U.S. News & World Report.
Rice said that epi-marks are “highly variable” and only those that are especially strong would potentially lead to homosexual children.
The evolutionary biologist said that while his theory still needs to be tested on parents and their children, it is the most plausible explanation so far.
“We’ve found a story that looks really good,” Rice said.
“This can be tested and proven within six months. It’s easy to test. If it’s a bad idea, we can throw it away in short order.”
I’ve always thought people were born that way, but what do I know… *shrug* They can offer all the explanations in the word and even provide solid proof, but I doubt that the debate will ever truly go away as to why some people are gay and some are not.

As a gay man, I feel that being a homosexual is in you from birth. It was already inside of you at the time of your conception, it is who you truly are internally. Once you come of age and maturity as far as personal/sexual identity, how you respond to it and what you do with it is YOUR choice. BUT, you CANNOT feign attraction to the opposite sex or fake masculinity, or put up a facade in front of family/friends/co-workers/God without feeling like absolute crud. Of course true gays are born that way, but it’s not quite that simple. There’s only a certain percentage of absolutes in terms of homosexuality. I am a gay man, born this way, and knew something "wasn’t quite right" at a very early age. But there are others (examples I know personally) who were in fact introduced to homosexuality- in some cases against their will via molestation etc. People who would’ve ended up living a typical heterosexual lifestyle if things didn’t happen early on to invoke their interest. There’s nothing stereotypically gay about them either, and in many if not most cases, they’re still attracted to women. Then there are others who identify themselves as straight, but "gay for pay" as it’s often coined. These men also have a healthy attraction to women, but "play around" with guys for monetary gain- i.e. strippers, trade etc.. Then you have your freak-a-leek’s- guys who like both women and men, just ho’ish! I’m saying all this to say that yes, true gays are born this way, but there’s a subset of individuals who engage in same sex activity, but do not necessarily fall under the proverbial "born gay" umbrella if that makes sense.

There is no scientific information in the world that can justify the reason why men are gay and women are lesbians. No one is BORN gay or a lesbian, that is just plain stupid. No child can assume that they are going to be gay after they are born. The decision is made when they get older and they are presented with certain situations. It always starts in the home; either the parents allow the boys to dress in their heels or put on make-up and just think of it as a joke, or they have been abused by another male in their family. The same with female as they get older. We all have a choice to make in life. You can either make the right or wrong choice, so don’t blame it on birth. Noone knows what they are going to grow up to be, until they are much older to make that decision.

Craziest comment I have read all day. Reminds me of when my aunt was working in musical plays and had her young son around her. The set director said unless you want your boy to be fruity then maybe you should find him some daycare. People make the decision as to whether or not they want to be openly gay or hide in a closet when they are older, but they have those feelings their whole life.

Now you had me scratching my head at the comment you made on the post about Kenya but your are dead on the money this time, couldn’t have said it better myself. I have a gay cousin that I was very close to as a child. We would play after school everyday along with other friends in the neighborhood. My cousin would always say when he got older he wanted to marry a boy, keep in mind we were about 8 years old at the time, well word got back to my aunt who was a devout Jehovah Witness and she beat the living crap out of him and broke both his arms. At 8 years old he didn’t say I want to be gay or I’m gay, because at such a young age you don’t process things that way, he just knew he wanted to marry a boy. So yeah I’m pretty confident in saying gay people are born that way. There are other important things afflicting our community to be so worried about what people do in the privacy of their own homes.
The problem with black folks is they spend too much time worrying about what man is sleeping with another man and other such nonsense. Most of the people who worry over such things are women who can’t get–or keep–a man, and men who are probably hiding the fact that they themselves want some dick in their life. Why else worry about where somebody else’s penis is going?

I think that there are some people whose brains were wired differently from the start and others who have been indoctrinated into the lifestyle in some way, i.e.: have an overbearing mother who castrates her son, have a parent who makes their child feel ashamed of their bodies at, particularly at the start of puberty for fear of their child being overly sexual young adults, was sexually molested, etc… We can not discount the fact that traumatic experiences does have effects on us and depending on the person, those experiences can manifest itself in a multitude of ways, including how we identify sexually. It is dangerous to think that gay people are ONLY that way by birth because it leaves a bunch of people who "turned" gay as a result of a traumatic experience scared to speak up and deal with the trauma, and in the case of the trauma being molestation, we will never be able to address pedophilia or child-on-child sexual abuse because we are refusing to acknowledge it as one of the reasons why people will identify as gay. Basically, perpetuating the abusive cycle. It’s the same as when a child witnesses or experiences domestic abuse. Some of those who witnessed it in their homes would say I would never do that and I’m stopping the cycle, and others would be so traumatized that they wind up switching roles from being abused to being the abuser. I know that some people refuse to accept how fragile our minds are, but it has to be said because even though those people might mean well, they are unknowingly contributing to the problem of those who are gay because of another reason other than being born that way.

Genesis 2:24

Genesis 2:24 states that man shall be joined to his WIFE, and the two shall become one flesh. It said nothing about man being joined to another man, whatsoever.
Genesis 3:16 states that a woman’s DESIRE shall be for her HUSBAND. It said nothing about a woman’s desire shall be for another woman, whatsoever. It also said that a woman shall bring forth children; which is something she can NOT do with another woman.
This is God’s word. And anything that goes against God’s word is of the Devil. It is the Devils job to deceive. The people who act out against God’s word is being controlled by demons they are not aware of (I’m talking about all sin, even sins I commit, not just homosexuality). And by the time the demons leave them, they are so use to his/her lifestyle that they think said lifestyle is who they are. But it was not how God intended it to be. READ HIS WORD.
Man is to desire woman and woman is to desire man. Now, I do not judge and blame people for being gay/lesbian at all. I love them dearly, as God loves them. But they are being fooled into believing they are who they think they are. I’m a sinner too. No one can be void of sin. Therefore, I am not judging. I’m stating God’s word. Read it for yourself.
As the Bible states in Ephesians 6:12: "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." KJV. This is describing the Devil and his demons that we wrestle with daily.
The Devil intends to make people go against the word of God. Gay and lesbian people are good, intelligent, kind, considerate and wonderful people. But they must understand that God did not make them to desire the same sex. Again, it goes against His word. And God can not deny His word.
Therefore, who ever states that gay men and women were born that way is a LIAR. That defective gene rhetoric is baloney, to be nice about it! It is like they are implying that God is flawed; that He is not perfect; that He is a liar. It is God who grants one life; so why would He go against His word and create a defective gene in any of His children? Preposterous!

i have had this argument with many people to the point i steer clear from it. i always felt people are born gay and yes there are some people who have experiences that make them gay. almost everybody grew up with or seen a child where you just knew they were a lil different. yes you shouldnt judge but i know a boy i grew up with who we called peaches from 7 years old til this day, he grew up in a religious home, had a lil girlfriend at 11 and all. he came out to my mom (idky they aint close) at 14. i had a female friend who came out to me around 13 and she’s married to a woman now. some people are just born who they are and its time people just accept it for what it is. its not like they going around trynna poke or lick you, its the wolves in sheeps clothing you gotta watch out for.
