Remember those horrid photos that turned up of Saved By The Bell Actress Lark Voorhies? Well Lark’s definitely looking a whole lot better these days!
After the a series of bizarre photos hit the net, rumors swirled that Lark had had botched plastic surgery, may have been on drugs, and some even said she had a deadly disease.

It was Lark’s mom who came forward to let the world know that Lark’s weird appearance and questionable actions were attributed to a mental illness (click HERE if you missed that), and while Lark denies her mom’s claims, it’s apparent that her Mom was telling the truth.
Voorhies recently interviewed with E! to deny she has mental health issues and and while she spoke all I could think was… “where’s the translator?”

I agree. She is off. Anybody on here that has experience working with the mentally ill, please tell me how does a person just snap like that and all of a sudden has mental problems?? Oh and I’m not sure what she said either.
MI can be hereditary, or it could be caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain (which can be caused by drug use). Some people don’t exhibit symptoms (of schizophrenia) until their mid-30s, so it can appear as if a person "snapped."
Many of my clients are embarrassed of their diagnosis. I always tell them, "there are two kinds of people in society; those who take meds, and the rest who haven’t been prescribed any yet."
Many of my clients got better sense than some of my neighbors, or other ‘professionals’ I encounter. Maybe she’s noncompliant with her meds (shrugs). They won’t work if you don’t take them. IJS.

Whatever IT is, I send up tremendous amount prayers for her. I really have a disdain for people who love to blast people’s illnesses for profit. If you really wanted to help — you can do behind the camera

Most of those pictures look like she used the wrong shade of foundation for her skin. Also, the light…. If she has a mental illness SO WHAT! So does 20 million other Americans. I’m actually a graduate student in the process of getting my masters in Counseling and people are calling her paranoid but she exhibits no signs of paranoia in this particular video. Her speech is rather difficult to understand but that does not mean she needs to be be in a strait jacket. It’s sad to see that E! would even post this or that straightfromthea would go on to include it on the site but people love to watch a train wreck.
I think this only enhances the stigma of mental illness in the Black community. In regards to Lark, no one knows what she has. Everyone can make ASSUMPTIONS, just like her mother, but until she sits down with a real psychologist or counselor and receives a diagnosis, people need to shut up and stop trying to label the woman.

VH1 Soul played Boyz II Men’s "On Bended Knee" video a couple of days ago, and all that I could think about is how gorgeous and vibrant she once was.
Lark does look much better in the interview than she did in some of the photos that have been circulating. I saw a clip on "ET" the other day, but this blog has a different clip from the interview.
As for the sidebar on this blog, you can’t fix a person who doesn’t acknowledge the need for help.
Lark’s mom indicated that Lark had been through a lot. This is Hollywood we are talking about. Who knows what sort of awful things may have befallen Lark as a child star? Hollywood is the type of place where people will threaten you if you tell, so it’s not like she can really go to the public and disclose what has happened to her.
We all need to be praying for her.
