Actress/Singer Natina Reed of the group Blaque was finally laid to rest last weekend and it was her son’s father, rapper Kurupt, who footed the bill for the funeral services.

Investigators are still trying to piece together details surrounding the talented 32 year old singer’s death, after she was struck & killed on a dark stretch of highway in Gwinnett County, Georgia.
Other than the driver (who was not charged) and a passenger in the car, no additional witnesses have come forward.
Oddly enough, the incident report listed Reed’s address as 7065 Jimmy Carter Blvd., which is the address of an extended stay motel in Norcross, and many have speculated that she may have been homeless at the time of her death.

The motel listed as Reed’s primary address is a questionable spot filled with transients but according to the AJC, Reed’s mother’s Tamara Goodridge said the motel was NOT her daughter’s permanant address.
Goodridge explained that Reed “…was in transition, about to move into a new home.”
Yet and still, the family is frustrated that there is little information surrounding Reed’s death and they still seek answers, determined to make sense of it all for Reed’s 10 year old son, Tren, who was in the custody of his father.
Through the police report, they know that authorities received a call around 10:30 p.m. on the night of October 26th, that a woman had been struck by a red Honda Accord on Lawrenceville Highway near Hamilton Road, just north of Lilburn.
Investigators are still trying to determine why Reed was in the roadway and whether she was crossing or walking alongside it. Reed was reportedly wearing dark clothing in an area that had no lighting.
Other than the driver, who was not charged, and a passenger in the car, there did not appear to be any additional witnesses, according to the incident report and authorities still await the results of toxicology reports, which are standard in fatal accidents.
Reed was laid to rest Saturday, November 3, 2012 and according to TMZ, the father of Reed’s 10 year old son, Tren, footed the bill for the services:
Kurupt — the father of Reed’s 10-year-old son Tren — is footing the bill for service as well as for the gathering after.
We’re told Tren will remain in Kurupt’s custody — like he has for the past four years — and that Kurupt hopes Tren will maintain a close relationship with Reed’s family.
Chilli and T-Boz from TLC, rappers Big Boi, Daz and Snoop Dogg (or whatever he’s calling himself these days) are all expected to be in attendance today … as well as members of Reed’s R&B group, Blaque.
On the day of the funeral, Kurupt tweeted out a photo of their son, along with some heartfelt words for Natina:
In addition to her parents and son, survivors include, sisters, Niesha Reed of Atlanta, Genni Reed of New York; brother, Michael Whalen of Atlanta; grandparents, John A. and Florine Reed of New York; step-father Mark Goodridge of Covington; step-mother Luci Reed of Atlanta; and seven step-siblings in London.

Michelle, let’s please allow those who have passed to rest in peace. It is useless to raise the issue as to whether she was homeless or not. The music industry is notoriously rough and shady.
It is sad that her son had to lose his mother at such an untimely age. Their son is very handsome. Our concern should be to focus positive prayers on the family.
Any of us reading or posting on this blog could be homeless. Most of Americans are two or three paychecks from homeless.

Amen, most people live paycheck to paycheck. In the last few years I have seen people that work every single day lose their homes. I don’t think the issue of her living status is a relevant issue. How about rallying to get street lights and sidewalks on the streets and roads so something like this doesn’t happen to anyone else. Here in Maryland a child was struck by a car crossing a busy road to get to school, her mother was on the news the same day speaking about the loss of her child, and how she would fight to get better traffic laws so another parent doesn’t suffer the same loss she did!!!
I get what you all are saying I am just not sure NOT talking about it is going to help the situation at all. Clearly it’s being talked about as it is on numerous media outlets…the real question is what can we do to help the situation of homelessness? I think that her story is very sad and can also serve as a wake up call to City and State officials that this thing is real.
I often wonder do people not have anywhere to go or in some cases is it more of a prideful thing. I would hope that her son’s father would have prefered to help put a roof over her v. paying for her funeral. I hope that this story inspires people to do whatever they can to help other people every little bit counts.
May she rest in peace and may her family find the answers that they are seeking especially for her sons sake.
That is one of the main things I don’t like living in Gwinnett. It is too fcking dark!!! I am not used to this and I don’t like it, it’s dangerous. It’s also scary bc I don’t know what’s going on in this damn place.

Did she have a car?? serious..Yeah she had an Ashton Martin in her private parking spot at the motel she lived in. She was walking because she forgot and left her car at the motel. BTW you are right by saying somthing isn’t right. The fact that people are judging and trying to pick apart the details of her life. If you havent had hard times, then you havent lived a true life. Hard times dont always mean being homeless. Some people bounce back and some quicker than others. As least she had a roof over her head and not living on the streets. Have you heard the saying "it is better to have a one room shack than a room in someone else mansion". Meaning it is best to be on your own than to be in a position where you might have to compromise your dignity. People probably offered her a place and she couldve decline. As far as a car, there are people who work everyday and cant afford a car. From what I heard, she didnt have a license. So that might be the answer to your burning question. She was obeying the law and not driving because she did not have a license.
I forgot to add that she was walking 12 miles because there was no land available and the zoning committee didnt allow the construction crew to build the motel down the highway 11.5 miles closer. REALLY!!! UGH!

Maybe she couldnt live with her parents because of her past. Maybe she gave her son to the father to raise instead of to her parents. Now they are speaking out to save face "I loved my daughter". When something happens to an individual who has wreck havoc in the neighborhood get whats coming to him/her the family steps in and say "they didnt have to do him/her like that. You want to give him a badge of honor? Thats his responsibility. Kurupt stated that he wants the son to maintain a relationship with his mom parents. That tells me that they are a little salty that they didnt get custody of him when his mom fell or hard times or like I said before. She didnt want her son to go to them.

Just because she had the motel as her address doesnt mean she was homeless. I have stayed at a motel for a lengthy amount of time while renovations where done to my home. I didnt want to be with family and friends because of children and noise. Folks shouldnt dirty her name without knowing the facts. The lesson here should be to put the cell phone away when crossing the street

I believe the father posted that pic himself on twitter…not hard to get a picture once it has been posted online. That is not the first time I have seen someone post a pic of her son and he is smiling. Maybe he has really good,loving people around him that is keeping him in good spirits, maybe he is still too young to fully understand that has happened, maybe his natural reaction is to "smile" when he takes a pic…either way…if his father is comfortable with the pic I dont think it really matters. T-Boz and Chillie was not at the funeral despite what was reported. Their condolences came via twitter the day after she was buried. They sux and makes Lefteye memory like a joke since they were recently at an event in memory of their late group member. Lefteye was very proud of her group Blaque and Eygpt. I know that T-Boz and Chillie had prior engagements but show support where support is needed. I am sure when Mack 10 stayed taging T-Boz ass people reached out in conern and when Chilli and usher broken up and was the "victim" people showed concern. I guess its about self now.

I think it is more to the story then what is being revealed…but that is not our business. No one on here can’t say that this could be them. I am greatful that God looks out for me on a daily basis. Lights water gas and food on the table. But I know that at any hour that couldchange.

Poor Natina obviously had problems. The fact that she didn’t have custody of her own son speaks VOLUMES. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that she was going thru some thangs. My guess is that she was put out of a car somewhere along that road and started walking, or she was high as a kite. SOMETHING negative happened to put her on a dark road at 10pm at night in the boonies.
